Oasis return with the first single from their forthcoming seventh studio album, ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ on 29th September. ‘The Shock Of The Lightning’, is regarded by principal song-writer Noel Gallagher as one of the band’s most instant songs “because it was written dead fast. And recorded dead fast. ‘The Shock Of The Lightning’ basically is the demo. And it has retained its energy. And there’s a lot to be said for that, I think. The first time you record something is always the best.” The eagerly awaited new album is released on 6th October on the band’s own Big Brother label across the world. The B-side to the single is the sought after Chemical Brothers remix of ‘Falling Down’, another song from ‘Dig Out Your Soul’. The Chemical Brothers remix is a psychedelic, acid-tinged take of the track which has been climbing club and radio charts after Big Brother sent it to a handful of DJ’s around the world. This is the first time an Oasis single has been backed with a remix and fans purchasing downloads of ‘The Shock Of The Lightning’ via the band’s own web site at Oasisinet or www.itunes.co.uk will also have the option of buying the video for the single. This is only available via those two web portals. A strictly limited edition 7" vinyl collector’s box will be made available separately for fans from both Oasisinet.com and select retailers to enable fans to collect all the 7" singles from the forthcoming album campaign. All formats are as follows: CD: ‘The Shock Of The Lightning’ / ‘Falling Down’ (Chemical Brothers remix) 7”: ‘The Shock Of The Lightning’ / ‘Falling Down’ (Chemical Brothers remix) iTunes / Oasisinet EXCLUSIVE: ‘The Shock Of The Lightning’ / ‘Falling Down’ (Chemical Brothers remix) / ‘The Shock Of The Lightning’ video. And keep checking back to Oasisinet for more single info and the soon-to-be-announced UK tour dates... From Oasisinet... I think that's a pretty lazy move!!! A remix as a B Side

really disspointing...it seems that they don't care about fans anymore. Where those days go when the b-sides were as good as (or better than) singles?

dude what a load of bullshit this new record is turning out to be. Only 1 b-side and it's a effin remix!?! Isn't there something lying around you could have slapped on there as track 3 Noel? You mean to tell me Andy or Gem have only written one song each in 3 years since DBTT?? You mean Liam has no tunes to spare as another b-side??
I'm serious if I met Noel or Liam I think I'd slap them in the head and ask what what the hell is wrong with you two!

I remember years ago being pissed about Placebo having only a remix as a B Side and I was proud Oasis was different So yeah I'm a little disappointed, it's lazy especially when they keep saying they have lots of leftover songs!!!! I'm with Meanstreak, the rest better be good!

yeah its lazy but hell I'm not gonna complain that much. that deluxe might have a bunch of great tunes. Who knows? But the they need to slap a tune on there even if its a demo.

There are some really weird rumours about an instrumental called "The Urangotang and The Pink Rifle" to be featured in the singles as well... even if it's true an instrumental track (with an abominous name) and a remix aren't much exciting...

I have to admit - I don't get it. This kind of stuff isn't done by accident though, so I don't know what the idea is behind this. I also thought it was very strange that:
1. Falling Down was an intentional leak 2. Radio play of TSOTL is six weeks before the single 3. (this really does my head in) that the single is released a week before the album.
Why would they not have released a TSOTL single on Aug 15 with the remix AND two new songs!!!! Arghhh!!!!!

I agree with rock n roll dad, Its very strange to release the single only 1 week before the whole album.
And I'm also a bit dissappointed that the B-side is something we've already heard. We also have the question of what was noel going on about deluxe, mega deluxe album versions? No official answer yet.
Although I've just noticed on amazon.co.uk a few new dig out your soul items.
One at 8.98, one 11.99 and then one plus dvd...

i feel betrayed by oasis, how can they put a remix on a bside, thats what bands with no talent do, like u2
i hope they fix it by the next single, put at least like 4 new songs

The days for 3 b-sides are well and truely over, they cant release anything over a certain length else it wouldn't be eligable for the singles chart. I think this rule came in just after All Around the World was released.

I think this rule came in just after All Around the World was released. Which is another reason to put out a new song and not a remix! I wouldn't mind a remix in the middle of two new bsides but now it's the only one

What's the average length of time between the first single release and the album coming out?
I wonder why TSOTL is only coming out one week before.

I reckon they're planning something special because this is a really odd way of doing things. Unless they're just trying to stir up the music industry in protest of artists just giving away their songs for free.

Unless they're just trying to stir up the music industry in protest of artists just giving away their songs for free. I agree, I cant help but think there's something fishy goin on. But then again they went against the grain by releasing BHN on a thursday to cause a frenzy (as copied by Viva la Vida) si maybe theyre hoping that the buzz that the single creates will mean everyone rushes to buy the album rather than leaving it longer and the hype dying down
