Post any negative comments about world footballs most prominent slave. What a little scumbag! No class at all as a human being, unlike the real players Kaka and Messi. I hope ferguson let's him rot in the stands!

i can't stand ronaldo. he is a great player, yes, but his lack of sportsmanship and class are overwhelming. i'll never forget watching a game against iraq during the '06 olympics. he elbowed one guy, and another time when he didn't get a call that he wanted, he made a vicious tackle for the body. his play is a disgrace to his country. how he was captain in the euro cup was beyond me.

This thread needs to be deleted before this pointless and uninformed verbal witchhunt escalates, and I end up smashing my monitor to bits in sheer frustration.

That's the other Ronaldo you're thinking of. The toothy, overweight, ugly Brazilian one.

Ronaldo > Messi. Two comparably skilful players, but only one has medals around his neck and a European golden boot sitting on his mantlepiece.
Now, aren't there enough people queuing up to take a pop at United in the first place without you providing cannon fodder? Siege mentality, pal. It's us against them. No breaking ranks.

"uninformed" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ronaldo is a twat-he could be one of the best players in the world if he showboated less, passed the ball more instead of running up blind alleys and didnt fall over so often (he should try a leaf out of rooneys book) he has done NOTHING to scupper all the rumors right from the get-go, has only encouraged them he said he agreed with sepp blatter (who altho hes swiss is as we all know a complete moron) when blatter said mu were treating him like a slave the guy is a jerk and united should let him go and use the money to buy replacements-it will then be hilarious to watch him bomb at real ronaldo is talented but not a team player and never produces when it really counts-what did he do at the euros except fuel the stories about the move to real? fyi i have no axe to grind as i dont support a prem team im gas ie bristol rovers

Messi too has a CL medal and numerous domestic medals. It's just for the last season I've found it hard to support United when that gobshite is playing. Was delighted when Messi showed the world in the semi's whose the topdog!!!

Some United fan you are then. Ronaldo gave everything to United last season. You don't have to like the man, but can at least respect his efforts. And that aside, when someone's playing in a red shirt, you fucking get behind them. ronaldo could be one of the best players in the world if he showboated less, passed the ball more instead of running up blind alleys and didnt fall over so often ronaldo is talented but not a team player and never produces when it really counts That's exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about. If Ronaldo didn't do enough last season to convince you that he is already one of the best players in the world, then I really don't know what you expect of him. He's great with the ball at his feet, great in the air, and one of the deadliest goalscorers that the Premiership has ever seen. Oh, and so much for 'not producing' - he scored high pressure penalties against Liverpool, Arsenal, and Wigan. His goals won us games against Fulham, Everton, Bolton, Portsmouth, Derby, Birmingham, and Reading. Every game is important when you're playing for Manchester United and chasing league championships and European trophies, pal. And he scored in the Champions League Final, for fucks sake. Were you hiding behind your sofa that night or something?

There won't be any Viva Ronaldo next year anyway. He's a brat and I just can't admire him. I used to love him, but when you here such nonsense from Redknapp, Gray et all that he's a genius...well it's an insult to real players like Messi, Kaka, Scholes and Fabregas.
Ya he has all the attributes but his decision-making is blinded by his oh-so-high opinion of himself, and when things don't go his way he's a disgrace (see the man city game at OT, and barca away)
Ok he scored in the Cl Final, but hell a central midfield player was right back. And his celebration to focus all the camera's on him when utd won the penalty shout-out was childish.
If he does go to Real, he'll be found out as he'll have no rooney or tevez (the real players at utd) to help him. I take your point on supporting a player in the red-shirt of utd, but when a player shows he has respect for the fans, coach and fellow players (As in this summer) then he doesn't exist in my eyes as a utd player.
Type Dunphy and Ronaldo into youtube.

Admittedly Ronaldo has his foibles. He's egocentric, and his attitude and decision-making on the field - at times - can be called into question. Difference being he's the most effective player at the club (arguably anywhere), and United are better for his name on the teamsheet. He's genuinely world-class, and if Fergie succeeds in taking him down a peg or two there's every chance he'll become the perfect footballer.
And fuck Dunphy. He's got nothing good to say about United. Here's a video that's actually worth watching:
Watch that and tell me honestly that he's not a genius. Some of those goals are unfathomable.
Oh, and your Essien point is irrelevant, for two reasons. He's proved himself more than capable of filling in at right-back, and even so, Ronaldo was named Man Of The Match - deservedly so - almost universally. For his performance, not his goal.
Perhaps you should ask yourself when Wayne Rooney last performed well in a big game.

Ronaldo was not man of the match in that match, did nothing of note after the goal besides a cross. He can score goals but doesn't really dominate match like Cantona did
Look I'll acknowledge he's a very good player (enough of this banter) But I think we all know that in twenty years time that the only player that'll be talked about from this era who was worthy of joining the greats is Lionel Messi.

No, no, no, a hundred times NO. Granted Messi is a great player but that is complete fucking nonsense. If Messi gets in there, so does Ronaldo. They're basically inseparable on everything but their goal contribution (and we both know who's better on that front). And Ronaldo won us a number of matches practically single-handedly last season. I dare say he's proved himself more than capable of 'dominating' games.
And 'enough'? Pah. You started this fooking topic in the first place. I'm merely trying to talk some sense, rather than blindly slagging off one the most gifted footballers ever to wear a Manchester United shirt because I've got a petty personal hang-up.

Messi will win at least one of the next three World Cups (I say three as even when he's in his thirties he'll still have his vision and decision-making to rely on) and rightly or wrongly that is the benchmark for greatness. 'Basically Inseparable' to the untrained eye, that's what irks me as Ronaldo's step-overs and shit appeal to people who don't understand football (not including you) and they put him on a level the same as Messi. How many times have you seen Messi do a step-over. He just has a divine talent...Ronaldo is gifted but any half-decent defender (clichy, cole, zambrotta even) he comes up against he is found wanting. Ok evra did well against messi, but messi still dominated that match and was MOTM from an attacking POV over the two legs. Look we'll agree to disagree and time will prove who was more right.

I hope Man Utd hold firm, it could be a landmark stand against over paid players and their greedy representatives.
Ronaldo needs to be knocked down a peg and realise he earns more in a week then most people earn in 5+ years.
I also hope Man U push to get Real Madrid fined or kicked out of next season's cup competition for poaching.

Nevertheless would pele be as acclaimed if he hadn't won those world cups?

Certainly. One of the most prolific goalscorers of all-time - second only to Romario, if memory serves me correctly. Averaged almost a goal a game throughout his career; no mean feat when you've played over 1100 competitive matches.

Ya but this was for Santos, and the standard wouldn't have been as high as in Europe where his goal tally would've been less. For me though Maradona was the greatest(soon to be over taken if everything goes to plan by LM)

Put Pele in the great Real Madrid team of the late 50's, or the great Benfica side of the 60's, and I dare say he'd have stood a pretty good chance. Individual goalscoring rates were fairly high around that time; Ferenc Puskas is probably the best example (and he actually ended his career at Real Madrid).
United's own Tommy Taylor averaged just under a goal a game, and Denis Law's 46-goal season (set in the early 60's) still stands as the club record.
