Take out Little James, PYMWYMI, and maybe I Can See A Liar and it's a fantastic album. Shouldn't have stuck two Noel sung songs next to each other though.

Forgot to mention, it also has the coolest album cover (bar Dig Out Your Soul). Apparently the photographer took a photo of New York every hour for 18 hours in a row and then blended them all together so it is impossible to tell what time of day it is And you'll notice that there are no World Trade Center towers (very odd for a shot of downtown New York City). Did Oasis know something would happen in 2001?

Aren't they just to the left of the Empire State Building? About halfway down?

It should have been the final Oasis album. The only song I can't stand is "Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is". Even Little James is decent, imo. Everyone forgets Noel's kick ass guitar solo from that song. The demo is very strong actually.
I also enjoy that it was the first (and last) album where they experimented with a different sound. Such a fucking shame they pussied out and tried to recreate Morning Glory with Heathen Chemistry (and failed miserably).

Where were all these people defending SOTSOG when I posted my thread last week?? I felt like I was getting beaten up by a bunch of 'Cool Britannia' defenders!!
Haha, but seriously, I completely agree with most of what has been posted and particularly think the WTSMG v. SOTSOG comparisons are interesting and valid...especially for those, like me, that think that outside of a couple landmark anthems in WTSMG, it was basically an extension of the DM sessions and sound. SOTSOG, on the other hand, is in a class by itself.
For me:
FITB>Hello GLIO>Roll With It Who Feels Love<Wonderwall PYMWYMI<DLBIA Little James>Hey Now! Gas Panic!>Some Might Say WDIAGW>Cast No Shadow Sunday Morning Call>She's Electric ICSAL<Morning Glory Roll It Over<Champagne Supernova
So there you have it: in my book, track-to-track, it would be 6-4 SOTSOG, but it is probably closer to 50/50, 5-5 anyway you measure it because of how hard it really is to vote between great apples and oranges like SMC (very extraordinary, serious track) and She's Electric (very fun, romantic track). Same goes for FITB/Hello, GP!/SMS, and to a different degree, picking which song I liked less between LJ and Hey Now (I probably do dislike HN more, however, and I have a feeling LJ will grow on me over the years). The rest were fairly easy.
One thing I disagree with, however, is the dislike some people have spewed for DBTT. In the same way that BHN and SOTSOG have been re-evaluated and re-affirmed of their intrinsic value after some time for their appreciation to ferment, I believe DBTT, more than probably any album put out thus far, will be immensely appreciated down the road for its versatility and balance; with equal parts power, pomp, artistic grace, taste-tasting different genres with each song, and lyrical superiority, among other musical aspects, I truly think Sardy's debut will end up being viewed as one of Oasis' few true masterpieces.

I've always loved, defended and enthused about BHN and SOTSOG since the day they were released.
DBTT is loads better than HC so in that it was a complete triumph, but I'd still place DBTT 5th behind the first 4 in any ranking.
I find myself agreeing with robohump about some things but not this. I've got a feeling that DOYS is gonna be mega, and I hope it experiments with a new sound as sources suggest like SOTSOG did.
Some Liam tracks on DOYS will suck - every album has to have at least one shit Liam song, it's the law or something. I have that vibe that Soldier On will be another droning, excruciating disaster in the mode of Better Man - I hope I'm wrong.
The rest will be amazing. Definitely.

Did Oasis know something would happen in 2001? it's a conspiracy, man! oasis were behind it! (i can imagine l4e right now...) you can barely see them, but they're there, to the right. the view of the shot just happens to be focused on the empire state building.

For me its 3-3-4 They are about even, I prefer SOTSOG to WTSMG, though, because WTSMG is overrated, and I've had SOTSOG for a shorter period of time, so I'm not tired of it yet...

I don't get all the stick on Hey Now! personally. I love it. It's certainly better than Little James, which, though it has some nice instrumentation in parts, is crap.

It is a fact that SOTSOG is the most underrated Oasis album and trumps HC and DBTT in every way, but comparing MG track by track with SOTSOG is pointless. Just because an album may sound more consistent shouldn't take away from classics on MG that will never come close again. MG's wonderall, CS, DLBIA, SMS, MG & CNS (which isn't appreciated enough) beats everything on SOT.
