I've noticed a funny thing
This spring the view count for Wonderwall on youtube has been 9.6 mio or something and slowly crawling up to 10 mio.
After the Glasto row, the view count number has started rising faster, and now is around 13.3 mio views
Coupled with the fact that Wonderwall single sales and WTSMG sales have gone up right after Glasto (13 years after their release), it appears that a lot of people who had heard Wonderwall on the radio once or twice sometime in the 1st century BC but hadn't known what the performing band's name is (as is, for example, the case with the Bittersweet Symphony) suddenly have learnt the names "Noel Gallagher", "Oasis", "Wonderwall" and "Morning Glory".
Do you think that's the case?
By the way, it all appears to be an excellent promotion and public awareness campaign for the upcoming DOYS.
P.S. It's sad that still a lot of people (outside the UK) know only one Oasis song "Wonderwall". I try to educate'em evry once in a while by playing and singing "Live Forever" ;D

Oasis have had their day. It's time to accept the facts.

Oasis have had their day. It's time to accept the facts. What facts? Oasis still sell shitloads of albums and sell out massive venues.

Here's what I've been talking bout: "Jay-Z's controversial set at Glastonbury has had at least one surprising knock on effect. 'Wonderwall', the Oasis song that Jay-Z mockingly appeared onstage to, has experienced a resurgence in sales and is now headed for this week's top 100. Furthermore, the album it appears on, '(What's The Story) Morning Glory' has experienced a 200 per-cent increase in sales since the Brooklyn rapper's Saturday night headline performance." www.nme.com/news/oasis/37803

Oasis have had their day. It's time to accept the facts. To say this is the same as saying "Rolling Stones have had their day in the 60s". Yes, the Stones are not as popular anymore, but they still make excellent music (and there's no reason why they shouldn't) and I personally highly enjoy their 90s and 00s work (and I was initially hooked by their latest LP, not their classic stuff). Same goes for Oasis - even if DOYS doesn't sell 10 mio copies, they are still immensely popular and continue making great music we're all lookin' forward too and new fans with albums like DBTT and songs like SCYHO or TIOBI

The Stones haven't made a good album since Taylor left.
But anyway, I just noticed the same. Felt like watching the Wonderwall music video and was surprised by the 13 million views. Hopefully this opens Oasis to a wider audience in America, though the bump was only for Wonderwall, the rest of the videos are relatively the same.
