i watched the viddycast of noel and russell and i'm wondering what everyone thinks of his shenanigans. i figure noel is doing a good job getting in the public eye (ear) on a regular basis acting like a pretty cool dude. it's good to see him being more than a snobby rock star (like most of the public think) whose only memorable quotes are him slagging people off (cause that's what journalists bait him into saying).
however, i'm a little concerned that he's turning into a sidekick. taking a step back in "social standing".
what does everyone else think?

It's probably just because I'm a Noel fan but his appearances are the only part of the RB show I can listen to. I don't find RB entertaining, funny, clever, he just comes over like an utter twat who does effeminate 'comic' voices every five minutes which aren't the least bit amusing and drops sex & gay references in lieu of actual humour.
On the other hand, I'm glad Noel is on the show as he never fails to be really funny and quotable. When Henry Winkler was on the phone and Noel kept calling him 'Fonzie', on last weeks show Noel's Book Club, 'I like women but I love men' or whatever he was saying.
I'm glad Noel dropped a reference to Bill Hicks this week - I've never heard Noel mention him before - disbelievingly exclaiming 'You think you're as good as Bill Hicks!!?'. Brand isn't fit to wipe Hicks's arse.

ya check out the other threads, or google russell brand podcast on bbc radio.
for the record, i think russell is one of the most genuinely irritating and funny radio personalities. paradoxically- like mosquito bites- pain in the ass, but instant gratification whilst scratching. i also think its great that noel, and probably only noel, can keep up with the shit that comes out of mr. brand's mouth.
classic: the story about the three of them avoiding being bummed by elton john's missus/ mister.

Yeah, I think it's good for Noel to be heard saying things besides what bands are crap. He's hilarious on the show. Last Saturday's show was hilarious with Noel doing the gay bit. It was also funny last year when he said "I love you" to Russell as he was saying goodbye over the phone. While Brand can be a bit much sometimes, I think he's mostly funny and him and Noel work well together. Plus, he got a Gallagher brothers reference put into an American film (though I bet most Americans didn't get it). Oh, and speaking of Noel and Russell, here's a video of Noel performing at Russell's show tonight. It's long...there's some funny bits before he starts: I don't post on this site much, but since I enjoy Noel and Russ so much I wanted to add my praise for the podcasts.

yikes. great video but is noel selling out to brand? why does he put himself in the situation where he's the "invited guest" and plays to the whims of russ?
AND whoever wonders why they don't play more obscure songs in their gigs, take a look at the video. he could have played whatever he wanted, but chose the safe choice. he's not very spontaneous unfortunately.

Selling out? He's just a guy who's appearing on a mate's show.
