Exclusive: Oasis Sign to Warner Bros. in U.S. Gallagher brothers' label strikes deal with the stateside major to distribute the band's forthcoming set, Dig Out your Soul, due Oct. 7.
After more than a month of obscurity, Oasis have finally named a U.S. distributor for their forthcoming seventh album; The Gallaghers' Big Brother Recordings has joined forces with Warner Bros. for the stateside release of Dig Out Your Soul, the band's follow up to 2006's Lord Don't Slow Me Down, set to arrive Oct. 7.
The album, produced by Dave Sardy, the man behind the boards on 2005's Don't Believe the Truth, was recorded at London's famed Abbey Road Studios, mixed in Los Angeles, and, in addition to arriving with a "more hypnotic" sound, says songwriter Noel Gallagher, certainly has Warner Bros. CEO Diarmuid Quinn all smiles.
"Oasis are a world class band with a remarkable history," he said in statement. "Everyone at Warner/Reprise could not be more excited at the prospect of supporting such great artists, and working closely with Big Brother to continue to increase Oasis' profile in North America."

What company handled their American distribution before Warner? Was it sony? Yeah , if u actually considered them "handling" anything. Just a dreadful lack of promotion for the better part of a decade.

TheEXPERIENCE actually talked about this almost a month ago and no one believed him. Everyone flamed him and told him it was Sony in America. Interesting...

TheEXPERIENCE actually talked about this almost a month ago and no one believed him. Everyone flamed him and told him it was Sony in America. Interesting... Yep. I was one of those fags and already mentioned that I now stand corrected. If I remember correctly though, I thought he was kind of maintaining that they HAD been being promoted by WB all along, which was definitely not the case. I could be wrong though...again. I'll stop while I'm ahead.

More: Diarmuid Quinn, Chief Operating Officer of Warner Bros. Records commented on welcoming the band into to the Warner Bros. Records family: "Oasis is a world class band with a remarkable history. Everyone at Warner/Reprise could not be more excited at the prospect of supporting such great artists, and working closely with Big Brother to continue to increase Oasis' profile in North America. P.S. the new music kicks ass!" Formed by the Gallagher brothers in Manchester, England, in 1991, OASIS has become not only one of the most commercially successful rock bands in history, having sold more than 50 million albums worldwide, they are one of the most celebrated UK bands of all-time and arguably the most influential British band for the past 17 years; peerless, timeless and in a class of one. In addition to racking up eight No. 1 singles in the U.K. and a global total of no less than 171 platinum sales awards, the band has also scored big in the U.S. with three platinum albums, 1994's debut Definitely Maybe, 1995's career-making (What's the Story) Morning Glory, which has been certified quadruple-platinum thanks to the smash singles "Wonderwall" and "Champagne Supernova," and 1997's Be Here Now. hmm, I actually saw this on the front page of yahoo music first...that's a first. From what I heard of Shock of Lightning, with this kind of enthusiasm the record could crack the top 10 in the US

To be in the Top 10 in U.S. you basically have to have a collaboration with: Timbaland, Kanye West, Rihanna and the like

If all thngs go right, Dig Out Your Soul could end up becoming Oasis's first platinum selling album in the US since Be Here Now. I'm hoping so! Oasis need to get back to selling millions of records stateside, and Americans need to wake up and accept Oasis as a world-class band!

hmm, I actually saw this on the front page of yahoo music first...that's a first. From what I heard of Shock of Lightning, with this kind of enthusiasm the record could crack the top 10 in the US not gonna happen. sorry. We would be lucky if the song cracks the Top 40, let alone the Top 10. The music that does make it to the Top 10 in America is the typical hip-hop and R&B stuff by the likes of Timbaland, Rihanna, Chris Brown, and the annoying Soulja Boy, Lil Wayne, and all that other shit... There's simply no room for a band like Oasis in there, well unless they make a song like Coldplay, who made it to Number One with Viva La Vida! So, who knows!

If they make it to the Top 10 then I'm not so sure it is a good song!See what is in the Top 10.I don't think Oasis belong there. Most of the people in US do not appreciate real music. not our US Oasis friends of course.

Here's the funny thing... there's an entire country between New York and Los Angeles... I know people find that hard to believe sometimes but I promise you it's true!

poppycock to this "has to be Spears, Timbaland, Simpson, lil Wayne, etc to be #1 in the states" shit.
Bruce Springsteen, Radiohead, Coldplay, U2, Metallica, Jack Johnson, Beck...just some off the top of my head that have had number one albums in the states in the last few years. There's dozens more but I think I've made my point.
