I would like it reintroduced, but not for crimes such as teenage stabbings. what for then? am undecided to be honest kind of lot of factors say the judge gets it wrong (which in uk is a possibility)poor guy is executed then later someone admits to the case after killing (for arguments sake)another person(s)cant say oops your free to go dead is forever but in cases where paedoism is involved i think they should be killed because they are usually caught after years of abuse and is usually proved beyond doubt or they have previous (could give them once chance of rehabilitation then penalty for a relapse) i could go on but am not great with grammar as you all will know who talk to but could sit and discuss this for hours anyway thats my penny in the ring

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Makes perfect sense. I think that the fact that mistakes can be made is enough to make me think that the death penalty is wrong. And honestly, the point of prison is to punish and presumably rehabilitate them. Serving 25 years in prison is a life sentence, really.
Has anyone here seen the Shawshank Redemption?

Don't kill anyone. Then you won't have to worry about it.

don't really know what i think on this matter. some acts are so atrocious i find it hard to let someone live. however, i think that living with something you did like that in prison for the rest of your life could be a worse punishment than being put out of your misery by people who want to show you that killing is wrong by KILLING YOU ?!

It's already been said, It's harsh on the people who are wrongly prosecuted. Imagine been put to death and been blamed for murder. Or whatever the crime that's exactly my point. judges, lawyers and juries are human beings wo make mistakes and are open to manipulation. even a 0,001 % chance that someone innocent is sentenced to death is enough to be against death penalty. and i am not even starting with deterrence (and lions, i hope this is not the only reason for you not to kill someone!!! ) or ethical things here.

...however, i think that living with something you did like that in prison for the rest of your life could be a worse punishment... if that is true how come they all file appeals and try to get their death sentence reversed or changed to life in prison??

The death penalty is sick! How can so many of you support it, no matter what the person has done it is grossly unfair.
Say a man kills his wife, and the executioner then kills him. Should the executioner not be killed by a second executioner and so on by this logic. He or she would be no better than the man who killed his wife in the first place, murder is murder. I don't think anyone really deserves to die.
And say the man had an unfair trial. If he is put in prison for life and new evidence is found that clears his name he can be set free with reparations. If the death penalty was in place we could hardly resurrect him, could we?

I support the death penalty. Those that take lives of others dont deserve to see the light of day....Plus, alot of murders, after killing 1 person, say it becomes easier and easier to kill again, and again, and again.......
