So as we all know...
-Dig Out Your Soul released 6th October
-The Shock Of Lightning released 29 Sept.
Any one know if theres any fierce competition Oasis have for number 1 (album and single) around these dates. Even if both album and single are sh*t (which they wont be) do u think they will get to number 1? Out of shear fan base i think Oasis will do it. Your thoughts? (This is UK charts i'm talkin about btw lol)
Furthermore what a great acheivement it will be for Oasis to get 7 number one studio albums in a row, underlining yet again why they are one of the greatest. Has any other artist/band done this?
Cant wait for 6th Oct bring it on!!

I heard the Kaiser Chiefs pushed their release back to avoid Oasis, but I doubt they'd give Oasis much trouble anyway. Any single by Oasis is guaranteed to hit the top 5 and every album #1.

Sept 22nd - Kings of Leon - Only by the Night
sept 29th - Dr Dre - Detox Will Young - Let it Go
theres nothing to compare on the 6th october its all unknown shit and lambchop
Oasis will be number 1 but im not sure for how long, wasn't SOTSOG at number 1 for a week before travis knocked it off and that had been out for a year already.
I wonder if Will Young is gonna let it go after this and hopefully fade into obscurity
;D

Yeah I can't see it being number 1 for than a week, unless the The Shock Of Lightning is a massive hit with non die hard fans too

Oasis will generate sales beyond their core fanbase and speculative listeners should they spawn one or two really big singles from the album. Any kind of sales surge outside of those two will be beyond the release. Coldplay had those kind of numbers in the bag pre-release. Like it or not, 'tis the truth.

Viva La Vida was, what, around 400k I think? No use competing with Coldplay in sales, they're a force to be reckoned with and the EMI's saviors.

But DBTT has sold 4m+. With some really good promo this year, DOYS could beat that.

Any single by Oasis is guaranteed to hit the top 5 and every album #1. I suppose that is the way things have always been. (Although Supersonic, Shakermaker and LDSMD all failed to reach the top 5 )

LDSMD was no. 10 being download only and it recieved almost no promotion at all.. I'd say that is pretty good.

Oasis have it easy, they've arguably got the biggest fan base in the country for a band that is still making records.
Fair play for the Kaiser's to move their album back, they're huge fans apparently. Even though they're obviously influenced by Blur.

I believe LDSMD was #10 on the overall charts. Like Mogly sad, there was pretty much no promotion for it, so that's damn good.
