that version of 'i can see a liar' is amazing, actually. ALL the live versions of it are.
what was the story behind them playing it at letterman?

you know what..you're right..the live version is rockin' ...but i guess i really just wasn't expecting that, and at the time it obviously wasn't up there on my list on sotsog tracks they could play...anyway, i guess that the single was "where did it all go wrong" and liam took a bit of a hissy with wanting to perform cause it was in new york and all..or cause he just felt like it that day lol, so last minute noel said fuck it we'll play the most obscure track on the record then and that's what they did..kinda cool actually

no problem that show in nyc was great..travis opened touring the man who, people didn't stand up for them during the gig and when oasis came out and people did..the first thing liam said was..."you can all sit down now you bunch of lazy fuckers" lol Travis sounded unbelievable at that show too

It's not a coincidence that the newbs on here believe him, while the oldies are more skeptical. the latter group has been through this time and time again.
LDNMN has not given us ANYTHING NEW - everything he said has been rehashed from other sources. Stop believing him now before he gets too deep into this like twoface.
I'm sick of this bs. If LDNMN crosses the line as twoface did and gets found out, I hope he joins the banned list too.

He probably posted it in the wrong thread.

The other reason for performing that on Letterman, was that Dave has the strictest time limit for musicians of any of the late night shows. And short songs aren't Oasis' specialty, really. So they didn't have a lot to work with.

I thought I saw in some VH1 mini-documentary on Oasis (circa 2000 or so) some footage of what looked to be a music video for ICSAL, with I think the entire band (or at least Liam) wearing black-and-white-striped mod outfits.
Can anyone recall what I'm referring to? I have had no luck in trying to find an ICSAL video anywhere.

Another oddball gig, and probably my most least favorite performance of all the ones I've been to, was Noel's solo slot at the Tibetan Freedom Concert in June of 97. If he had come out with an acoustic guitar and did those songs, it would have been fine. Instead he used an electric, and with no backing instruments it just didn't work. Definitely unusual...

yea the tibetan freedom concert is definitely oddball and definitely shit if the bootlegs ive heard are a fair translation of the vibe.

Yeah pretty much every band missed the mark that day for some reason.

that's a cool story! i can't wait (well, hopefully) for Oasis to perform on some American late night. it's cool to see them and hear about them on Letterman since I'm a Letterman fan and Conan... that'd be awesome since I'm pretty sure he likes Oasis. favourite 'oddball' gig is that gig in Fukuoka in 2002 when Liam lost his voice during Morning Glory then left the stage and Noel did 6 or 7 acoustic songs afterwards. probably the most beautiful versions of the Masterplan and Heart of a Star I've EVER heard.
