I don't understand why Noel needed Bonehead to play any guitar on any of the albums. I understand live, Noel obviously needs a rhythm guitar so that he can play lead. But as Noel wrote all of the songs, and obviously knows all of the guitar parts, why did he teach someone else to play a song and then play on the recording? Couldn't Noel just play all of the guitar parts? Was he just trying to include him in the process?

Probably the latter.

Didn't Bonehead write some of the music?

Well, according to Noel him and Guigsy wrote down the notes and chords Noel was playing. I've never heard any accounts of Bonehead writing anything, though I'm sure he added some bits much like Alan with his drum parts.

Up In The Sky was his riff, I think. Probably why he played it live and Noel did the chords underneath.

Bonehead came up with the riff for Up In The Sky. I always get the impression that Noel was harsh on Bonehead. He deserves more credit for being a nice bloke and a consistent rhythm guitarist.

Did he? That's an all right riff, that.
I do agree, both him, Guigsy, and hell even Tony deserve a bit more credit then they usually get.

Up in the Sky is a distinct riff, I didnt know he wrote that. Never cared for the album or live version, but the acoustic one Liam sings is top. Great Vocal on that one there.

The "Up in the Sky" riff is a rip-off of Day Tripper by the Beatles. Bonehead should be sued for that and given no credit whatsoever. That's my opinion. And Bonehead probably played Rhythm cause back in 1994 they played live in the studio. They didn't have the computer technology we have now. They would have to do multiple takes together before they got it right.

Man, I want both Boney and Guigsy back. I can't stand Gem and Andy attempting to pass themselves off as 'Oasis'. It's sickening.

Andy and Gem make the live show a zillion times better since thye can actually play their instruments well....lead or rhythm....i just wish they would stop writing songs, a bell will ring is the only one i tolerate, and actually kinda like

I would rather Bonehead be writing Oasis songs; at least he's a real member of the band, unlike those two knobs.

Hardly knobs dude...
Keep The Dream Alive was one of the better songs on DBTT I think.

Ignore robohump.
He's got absolutely nothing good to say about the band post-Morning Glory, and with every new post I wonder more and more what the fuck he's even doing on here.

The Up in the Sky riff, regardless of who wrote it, is not a ripoff of Day Tripper. I can see a similarity, but not an Ice Ice Baby/Under Pressure similarity.

Yeah thats true but it is very similar. And I am not a fan of Bonehead. That's all. Noel rips off of songs too but he doesn't make it obvious (except for when he uses Beatles Lyrics in his songs).
Bonehead = Steaming Shit Noel Gallagher = Legend

There is no resemblance between Daytripper and Up in the Sky other than the first 2 notes. They're completely different to play on the guitar as well.

The problem with music is that there are only twelve keys.
Perhaps if we invented another fourteen million of them we wouldn't have to put up with dickheads hearing a vaguely similar semblance of notes and rhythm, and immediately accusing said writer of plagiarism.

Post-Be Here Now, then. Tom-ay-toe, tom-arr-toe.
The current Oasis is four multi-instrumentalists and songwriters; or what's known in some circles as 'a band'. The old Oasis was three lads with rudimentary musical talent, lucky enough to know a fucking mint singer and one of the world's greatest songwriters.
Oh, and Alan White.

I should have said "up to and including SOTSOG". Oasis died for me when they allowed those 2 knobs into their band and encouraged both to write songs for Oasis albums.

Granted, A Quick Peep and The Quiet Ones were shite, but otherwise I'd say their tunes have been amongst the highlights of Oasis' last two albums.
If anything I'd say it Noel who's dropped his game a little bit.
