You guys are gonna hype the album so much that it won't meet your expectations. Let Noel, Liam, Andy, and Gem do the talking and they'll walk the talk. Don't be hyping something that you don't know nothing about. Please stop this MADNESS!!! And please don't believe the hype!

Not enough hype imo

We don't really know anything about the album anyway.

I don't think there is that much hype around it at the moment. There's just a lot of bullshit around that it's getting ridiculous.

Bring on the hype, bring on the bullshit. It's not a life and death matter. It's only music. Being "practical" about music is sort of an oxymoron.

The hype is the best part. The bullshit is all part of the mystery building to the anticipation.

You guys are all right. I just don't want people on here to be disappointed when the album comes out. A lot of the bullshit and hype (on this forum especially) is getting out of hand I think. That is all. Can't wait!!!

This has officially been the weirdest build up to an Oasis album release ever. Tennis players? Batman?! Latin/Dutch?

Whats funny about the hype is that in a complete change to form, its not Noel or anyone in the band screaming about its greatness lol. This is a good sign IMO. Let the music speak for itself.

The thing is its not oasis hyping the album its US. Noel has been silent which is encouraging. We are just working our selves into a lather.
What I expect of the album.
Truthfully, well sorry to put a damp squib on things but I think I'll get it first hour of release (like I always do) play it and then:
I so so desperately will want it be IT that at first I'll go through a stage of denial and think yes its better than DM even. They I'll listen again and again and reality will dawn. It will be a competant enough album with some good tunes, but pretty bland and non descript.
That's what I'm expecting. No Hype with me.
I just hope I am wrong, this time and it is IT. But realistically based on the last three albums can you relaly see it happening, now?? Time will tell but lets not get too excited and find its a major anticlimax-again.
Prepare for the worse so you won't be dissapointed and who knows we may be pleasantly surprised, but don't count on it.
I am just being painfully honest, sorry.

Time will tell but lets not get too excited and find its a major anticlimax-again. Yes. Yes I do. I've been writing this for months now, and i'm starting to get sick of repeating myself. SOTSOG and HC came at the bands lowest point: Band members quit, stopping the drugs, Noel said that time period was "uninspired" Then 2005 rolled around and what did we get? DBTT....An album rightly hailed as a "return to form" That album showed that Oasis have matured, musically and personally. The album was a success, best since BHN easily. The songs were of high quality, it flowed, the lyrics were genius - Noel found his inspiration again. And if that wasn't enough, we managed to get some very good live gigs (Manchester 2005, Noel and Gem's Cabaret, etc), A great anthem in WPTWOTWOMS, a slightly-better-than-average tune with LDSMD accompanied by the entertaining enough DVD Documentary, and the STC Greatest Hits (albeit not really for us hardcore fans, but still....) DBTT proved that Oasis have returned. IF DBTT failed instead, that would have been 3 bad albums in a row - and we would really be fucked. They will carry the success of DBTT with them - the band are reinvigorated. I feel this album will be better than DBTT (My rankings: DM, MG, BHN/DBTT, HC, SOTSOG), and could potentially rival WTSMG for our (general consensus of us fans) 2nd fav album. I won't predict it being better than DM, that's jumping the gun. But better than WTSMG? - It has a chance.....

Yeah but, personally, DBTT is their worst album. For me, Oasis albums have declined in quality chronologically, with not a single album being better than it's predecessor. I genuinely believe that Dig Out Your Soul will buck this trend, though.

I don't like Heathen Chemistry at all really but it edges it over Don't Believe The Truth with a couple of Oasis classics, in Songbird and Stop Crying Your Heart Out. DBTT sounds weak and contrived, as if it was a conscious attempt to make something with a more mature sound. Maybe it's Sardy's production I don't like. I've always had a soft spot for Standing On The Shoulder of Giants. There's a consistent vibe throughout that record that I can't quite pinpoint but it's there. Who Feels Love and Roll It Over are amazing.

Who Feels Love and Roll It Over are amazing. I really like SOTSOG and HC but to me they have a few really great songs but perhaps don't make great albums. DBTT just seemed to flow better to me and seemed to have more consistency. I was just curious because most folk really perceive DBTT as a leap from HC ;D

HC had great songs but didn't flow well as an album. DBTT flowed great but didn't have many standout songs. DOYS, I believe, will flow great but have a couple more standout songs. WTSMG flowed great and had 4-5 standout songs. I believe that DOYS can potentially punch out 4-5 songs as well.

This is what I'm hoping for as well, which is the consistency of DBTT but with more standout tracks. If the last album had had another 4 songs of the quality of The Importance Of Being Idle, it'd have been quite a bit closer to DM and WTSMG.

DBTT was great. If DOYS is as good as DBTT I will be very happy.

If people over hype it, it'll only ruin it for others if you believe or follow others hype (sheep) if you think it'll be that good in your head it can swing two ways, it'll be worse or as expected and better, so stop the "your over hyping it" crap.

I agree DBTT songs were higher quality, but i prefer SOTSOG and HC over it. Turn Up The Sun is amazing, i wish the whole of DBTT was like that, the acoustics really put me off DBTT sadly.
