............All Alan wanted, was to have a pint of Stella, and the guys to say what we want is to get Zak Starkey in, as we don’t think you’re right for us anymore. Alan would have had no problem with that, as nothing lasts forever......... New insights from brother Steven White. Visit the news room for full article ....!! www.oasisnewsroom.com

Very interesting... I was listening to the Barrowlands gig again the other day and couldn't help thinking how much I missed that drum sound... ah well, at least Starkey's out.

gotta admit- that was pretty cowardly of noel & liam, but that's how business is done nowadays.

At the end of the day its their loss, Alan has made more than a few quid out of drumming for them, and i'm betting he's laughing his arse off, now they're stuck with Robbie's drummer!

DANG! As much as I love Oasis/Liam & Noel but, thats just fucked up. I know I know its the biz and the biz makes you do a lot of messed up shit to cool peeps but, something like that is just wrong and cowardice. I dont think however, that that "phone call" Alan got was the first inclination that he might be getting the boot soon.... Fuck it, til now all we can is speculate about whos at fault...in about 5yrs time, someone close to the band will publish some tell all and clue us all in. lol

shit move. I miss Alan's drumming so much. As a drummer he has an influence on just about anything I played. many go "alan wasn't that good, he just played the same beat for every song" that is BS. alan was a genius at adding "ghost notes" to the songs. his quick and powerful drumming style was key to Oasis. Remember when you first heard Supersonic with it sped up a bit and a slight changing of the original beat. The epic endings of CS and AATW and RNRS could not have been done if they didn't have someone extremely talented like alan. Alan always seemed to love the band too. he stuck through thick and thin with Liam and Noel and its a fucking shame they lost almost a decades worth of friendship over something like this. You can go around saying "Zak is the best drummer for Oasis" but I don' think that is true. Zak might be a better drummer but Alan is the best drummer for Oasis. He was not extremely rocky (though he could be at times) but he was quick, precise, and bouncy the perfect fit for oasis. Could you imagine wonderwall with a simple snare hit on 2 and 4 and a simple 8th note roll? No I can't. Wonderwall was so interesting the first time I heard it because of yes the catchy guitar chords and the lyrics but the drums play a key role in the song. The song is filled with triples and complex rhythm. Through all the walk outs and other turmoil, this one that I would wish that they had not done.

I play in a band and the drummer is full of admiration for Alan White and the complex stuff he could pull off. And you can't just say "that's the business" - is fucking shit how they binned Alan off. Noel could've at least had the front to ring him and tell him himself.

it may seem cowardly but if he couldnt be arsed with turning up for meetings why should they be arsed facing him?alans an extrememly good drummer but he would never have fitted the sound of oasis today, simple as that,

It's a fucking shame, it really is. Alan seemed to come off as a cool dude and it's a damn shame that neither Noel or Liam even had the decency to tell him face to face or at least on the phone.

from a close source to the band:
"Alan was kicked out because noel is a racist. he doesn't like white people."

You don't think Alan could've drummed the tunes off DBTT? 'Course he could. And as for the Oasis sound of "today", we're still waiting to hear what that is! If they've got all electronic as with the Falling Down mix that's been put out then I doubt Alan or anyone else would be needed, as it's all done with a drum machine!

dbtt would've sounded very different if alan had recorded it. anyway, i think he's the best drummer oasis ever had.

One side of the story? Noel has repeatedly said he was let go because "he couldn't be arsed to show up to a meeting". As I've said about 40 times before, that's hypocritical and to not even have the decency to tell him themselves...sad really. For the amount of BS that Alan had to deal with resulting from the gallagher's collective behavior over the years they could've had the balls to tell him themselves that he was fired.

Zak Starkey is shite compared to Alan White. Simple as that! Whitey was phenomenal on MG especially on Cast No Shadow, Champagne Supernova etc. He continued his form till Heathen Chemistry! On that album he wasn't experimenting anymore. It was very ordinary drumming! I don't know who's fault this was- maybe he just lost interest??

Oasis wouldn't have been so successful if it wasnt for Whitey, can anyone imagine Tony McCarroll drummin on Morning Glory??
Starkey is a class drummer, but I was never quite convinced that his style fit with the more mellow/medium paced tunes like Live Forever or DLBIA

Alan White was a good drummer..in fact he was a very very good drummer. But There is no way that he was better than Zak. His drumming on DBTT added another dimension to the sound of the band and live he was outstanding. Not just anyone plays skins for THE WHO!!
I'm more gutted that Zak left than Alan, I'm even more gutted he been replaced by a scouser. BUT Chris Sharrock is another good drummer.
Apparently Alan had a bit of a strange personnel life (not that he walked around in his mums pants or anything!!) But I think he had alot of shit going on I also heard that he now lives in America some were!!

Liam didn't bother showing up at MTV Unplugged, he's walked off tours, and now we learn that he doesn't even sing on Wednesdays! There has to be something deeper to the story....

There has to be something deeper to the story.... I agree with this. I've always thought maybe the chemistry just didn't work out with andy and gem in the band. That was a huge change to the composition to the band. Maybe Alan just didn't click with them or vice versa. I mean i have no proof or interviews, i'm just throwing out a theory.

According to Noel's drunken ramblings on the Chris Moyles Show, Alan White "got the boot by Liam."

I'm a big fan of Zak's drumming on TSOTL and FD, I think he's gelling better now with the band than he did on DBTT. Hopefully this new kid, Chris, has what it takes.
