Right,
I downloaded a torrent (ironically it was AVG) and now my computer has a nasty virus on it.
When I tried installing AVG my other firewall went mental so I blocked the program that was trying to access the internet.
Then i kept getting loads of error pop ups so i restarted the computer.
Now, whenever i turn the computer on, the desktop loads and 30 seconds in and the screen goes black and thats it.
Im using it now in safe mode which is the only way itll work. I think ive found the file thats causing it but i cant delete it.
Now, anyone got a clue how i can fix this. I know this is very vague but im desperate not to use a back up disc and lose all my files!
Any help will be very appreciated!!
Thanks

btw,
When i turn the computer on normally i get these messages
"RUNDLL: Error loading C:\windows\system 32\yewhwm.dll. The specified module could not be found"
I get a few of them put with different file names. These appear then a few seconds later, it crashes!

mate i had EXACTLY the same on my laptop running vista
eventually it would not reboot at all just stayed frozen black
microsoft, avg help no use
got around it by loading the rcovery disc supplied with the fujitsu-siemens laptop........still probs, several system restores
eventually figured the prob was avg 8 (i had just upgraded from 7.5) but tho reloading the previous version worked awhile it then went tits up again
ONLY way i resolved it was to delete all components of avg and instaed put on avast
all working fine now
strongly recommend you do same if you can still get comp to run in safe mode
if you want more help pm me or email me martinwitheyman@hotmail.com

Many thanks for the help both of you.
I uninstalled the avg in safe mode and it seemed to work. Well, the computer wouldnt crash any more. I then downloaded the free version and got rid of the trojans.
Definitely gonna be more careful next time!
Thanks again for the help
