DM is definitely my favorite Oasis album, and I guess I'm not the only one However, ironically, my favorite versions of the eternal DM songs are not the album versions. I rather prefer the live and acoustic versions Here's my list: 1. "Rock 'n' Roll Star" – (live @ the City of Manchester Stadium, LTBL b-side) , also love the Noel's acoustic version (http://youtube.com/watch?v=HdXSWWzi8JM) 2. "Shakermaker" – Noel Acoustic (http://youtube.com/watch?v=m1aKML4yRYg) 3. "Live Forever" – Noel Acoustic (http://youtube.com/watch?v=CHbWRwOqG_I) 4. "Up in the Sky" – (Liam Acoustic) - 5. "Columbia" – Live (Songbird b-side), other performances like Glasto 04 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=qj6en4gVOXs) 6. "Supersonic" – Live @ the Earl's Court (http://youtube.com/watch?v=rozWkixhs9k) 7. "Bring It on Down" – Live (the "Good Evening Great Britain" version) (Shakermaker B-Side), also love the 1993 version (http://youtube.com/watch?v=zR_K_QxNYQ0) 8. "Cigarettes & Alcohol" – Live @ the V Festival 05 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=33KLEbjJM9s) and @ GMEX 97 (Don't Go Away B-Side) (http://youtube.com/watch?v=ak2f7EyQZs4) 9. "Digsy's Dinner" – Liam Acoustic (http://youtube.com/watch?v=kxb3aPoSUBc) 10. "Slide Away" – Noel Acoustic (http://youtube.com/watch?v=RHcKcAzjlYA) 11. "Married with Children" – Noel Acoustic (http://youtube.com/watch?v=lZ_d9aSRNNc) What do you think? What are your favorite versions (I understand than some may not agree with my preferences Do you think there's any track on DM that is best in the album version? Thanks

Not sure about what live versions are my favorite versions on some of the songs on Definitely Maybe, but I really like these live versions:
Supersonic: Live at Den Bosch '97 or Budokan '98
Colombia: I'm with you on this, deks, Live at Glasgow Barrowlands '01. Awesome version of that song! Especially after the guitar kicks in right after the Come on, come on parts!
Cigarettes & Alcohol: Live at City Of Manchester Stadium '05. It's a display of raw energy!
Slide Away: It's between Noels Acoustic version in Royal Albert Hall '07 with the orchestra. Or the one at Glasgow Barrowlands in '01.
Live Forever: Noel acoustic in '05 on The Edge. Love that version!

I cannot go as far as to claim that when played live these tracks sound better than they sounded on Definitely Maybe, one of the greatest albums of all time; however, I will venture to say that version of Columbia is fantastic indeed.

headcase, for example, I do enjoy Liam's performances like Slide Away @ Knebworth 96 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=0vhAj-bI4EY) or the great version of Live Forever @ Wembley 2000 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=rSEWR45zN3s) and I do think that Liam is a great and unique singer (for me there's no "Liam better than Noel" or "Noel better than Liam", they're just different yet both incredible)
However, I just realized that I feel some of these songs in a completely new perspective when Noel sings them acoustic (especially the Slide Away and Live Forever versions mentioned by me)
And, for example, I know one girl who's not into any type of music like Oasis (more like electronic/pop/hip-hop), but apparently liked the acoustic version of Slide Away by Noel/Gem/Terry after the first listen

For Live Forever, you won't top the performance on Familiar To Millions. Gleneagles comes pretty close, though. And I thought I'd already heard the best version of Slide Away (sung by Noel at Le Cabaret Sauvage), but I've just had a listen to the version from the Royal Albert Hall, and it's even better.
If there's any justification for re-introducing Noel's three-song acoustic set, then this is it.

I rather the post-2000 versions, they sound more mature and Liam sounds better like Live Forever and C&A in Familiar To Millions and that version of Rock'n'Roll Star in LDSMD, where Liam sings "toniiiiight, I'm a rock'n'roll star, WAHTEVER THE FUCK WE ARE"... sounds fuckin' rock'n'roll.... for slide away I agree with the TCT version, Noel singing acoustically with strings, just perfect.... Bring On Down from the last tours also sounded really awesome with the wah wah at the end... Supersonic also sounds great, but this one I rather with all the solos that Noel did back in Earls Court or Chicago, fuckin' great
