I loved hearing STC and RM, thought they were incredible. I never realized, however, how old these songs were, they were written in 2002 and 2001 respectively, i believe, which is during the hc time period. So that got me thinking, how good would HC have been with some more thought to tracklisting. Personally, i can hardly sit through the whole thing, so many annoying songs. But with some b-sides, and the two new demos, the record is about ten times better, and i feel this is the album that should have been released.
1. Hindu Times 2. Idlers Dream 3. Stop the Clocks 4. Shout It Out Loud 5. Stop Crying Your Heart Out 6. Songbird 7. Little By Little 8. Just Getting Older 9. She Is Love 10. Thank You For the Good Times 11. I Wanna Live in a Dream in My Record Machine
I just love all the B-sides from HC, and can't stand so many album tracks, but i think the above would have been one of their best albums ever.

Yes HC would be quite a good album if they put a couple of the b-sides on there and had better production

I like Heathen Chemistry, but I think it is somewhat poorly produced. They really should have made it louder. I've been thinking that maybe this would've been a good Heathen Chemistry:
The Hindu Times Force Of Nature (Only with Liam on vox. Remember what he did for Lord Don't Slow Me Down) Little By Little Stop Crying Your Heart Out .... (A Quick Peep, but in similar way that they did with The Swamp Song on Morning Glory) Songbird (You've Got) The Heart Of A Star Thank You For The Good Times Better Man (Different Mix) .... (A Quick Peep, again using the similar thing they did with The Swamp Song on Morning Glory) Born On A Different Cloud (Only a bit longer)
That leaves out (Probably) All In The Mind, She's Love and Hung In a Bad Place. I'd like to include the latter on the album, but I would rather have Force Of Nature with Liam on vox. I think the rest is more B-Sides material.

I love Heathen Chemistry for three reasons: The Hindu Times, Stop Crying Your Heart Out and Songbird I think those three songs are just fabulous... first you've such a great rock'n'roll tune, with Liam's voice sounding great and Noel's backing vocals fitting just perfect while the words "God gave me a soul in your rock'n'roll" bounce in and out of your head... then, you've got the most beautiful Oasis song since LAMB and DGA, again, with perfect vocals from Liam, and a great backing vocal from Noel as well... the song is pretty simple, but it's definitely one of the most beautiful from the last albuns... and well, I really don't need to talk about Songbird, that song it's just everything that was meant to be... Maybe I would change a few things concerning the other tracks, but I guess having those three as a pillar would be enough... couldn't imagine an album with those three plus RM and STC

Well, HC works great for me from tracks 1 to 6.. After Little By Little the album seems to go nowhere and gets really boring! Maybe some of the tracks mentioned would solve this problem.. What's the problem with 'Hung In A Bad Place'? I like it

Hmmm... we'll it's by far my least favorite Oasis record. I'd want RM & STC on the new record and not either of the last two because Noel's (hopefully) into amazing huge production again which is how these songs should be...

Songbird i love, (SPECIALLY the demo version of it which i prefer 100%), Hindu Times is a classic rock Oasis song but for me one of the best songs ever is SCYHO I still remember BBC1 playing that when England lost in World Cup 2004. Love this song though, great video (Used very well at the end of the film the Butterfly Effect), the Noel version is also very good and i still like the live TOTP version (Where the sound goes a bit weird) But a classic song

Surely there's a version of Force of Nature with Liam on somewhere out there? I can only imagine how good that would sound!

I'd get rid of Force of Nature all together (it's one of only a handful of Oasis songs I don't like along with Hey Now!, My Sister Lover and Roll It Over) and have You've Got The Heart Of A Star as a secret track at the end rather than The Cage which is utter bobbins. Really I think Heathen Chemistry has the best track listing it could have had though - if stuff like 'Shout It Out Loud' and 'Stop The Clocks' were on there it would be a pretty slow album...

I'd rather they waited 3 years and released this:
1. The Hindu Times 2. Mucky Fingers 3. Lyla 4. Turn Up The Sun 5. The Importance Of Being Idle 6. Songbird 7. Stop Crying Your Heart Out 8. Little By Little 9. Stop The Clocks 10. Born On A Different Cloud 12. (I Wanna Live In A Dream) In My Record Machine 13. Who Put The Weight Of The World On My Shoulders?
With Liam singing Record Machine.

I completely agree with you there. Most of HC, aside from Little by Little, The Hindu Times, and maybe Force of Nature just seemed rushed and like nobody cared about the album. I don't think it was meant to be big, I think it was a cautious attempt at recovering some respect as a rock band after Be Here Now and SOTSOG were largely rejected. STC and RM belong on an album that's meant to be huge, and I get the feeling that this next will have that intention.

I guess the point of this thread is that in 2002, Noel was going on about how he got his 'magic' back, but when i went out and got HC, i was disappointed. But when i start to listen to all of the b-sides from the period, and the two demos we have that were written in that period, i start to understand what noel was talking about, and it makes me appreciate HC a little more.

Surely there's a version of Force of Nature with Liam on somewhere out there? I can only imagine how good that would sound! Imagine what Liam on vox would do to that song! I mean, Force Of Nature is a real rocking tune, and Noels voice is best suited for Little By Little style songs. Liam would lift this song up to a whole new level! It would become more aggressive and in your face. Imagine Liam singing the "Smoking all my stash, and burning all my catch line". While reading through this thread, and through everyones opinions of it, I think it should also be pointed out that Heathen Chemistry is an important album in the sense that it was the first album that all members contributed songs for. Also, it was a more lighter album compared to Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants. To me, this album is like Oasis saying "We're back!!!", and showing of a new attitude. It was so refreshing getting this after the turbulent Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants tour and time period.

Just because you're Norwegian Kenneth, that's no excuse!!! Ha ha ha ;D Yeah, I know, that was a grave mistake, and it won't happen again! It's a crime to misspell any Oasis lyrics!
