I bet the upcoming album will have 'respectable' reviewers going anywhere from 'indulgent mess and they should now call it quits' to '10/10....the return of the best band in the world!'
I can see that happening for sure.

No, I disagree. Even us, as hardcore Oasis fans, tend to tell the truth and know when Noel has been lazy, or when he writes a stunner. As do the music critics.
Of course you'll get both extremes from a select few, some because they personally believe it, and others because of a pre-conditioned bias.
But when all is said and done, the new album will have a general consensus opinion about it, just like the others. For example: DM - best album of the decade, WTS - amazing, BHN - over produced but under rated, SOTSOG - weak, HC - filler, DBTT - return to form

Its all about your opinion. The critics can praise or denounce an album all they want but its all about you. Now I can see this album getting reviews like "they should quit" or "Noel Gallagher writes about less than he used to" to "instant classic" or "last album was a return to form, this is a return of Gallaghers as the Kings of Rock N Roll". I can assure you at least that this Album will have at least 3-4 great songs (every Oasis album does) I'll be happy if this album does not turn into another HC but i highly doubt it will (the band is out of getting Gem and Andy used to the band and they are not producing the thing by themselves) DBTT was a great great album and I'm looking for the band to go from there.

i think that to get a good review bands need changes of direction from previous album, explore new boundaries, and a good production. DBTT was a return to form for many critics cause if you think about it had a different style than the previous two albums, like for example almost no solos, songs with percussionists (POTQ) a proper british track (TIOBI), change of drummer and the new drummer being Ringo Starr's son, brake train harmonicas MF, and Andy Bell opener with an intro and an outro, four songs with Noel vocals on them..

Of course it doesnt matter to us what the general reviews are
BUT, WE want Oasis to get the respect and praise they deserve. I've said this before, but here it is again: Even if the Oasis album is monumental (better than DBTT, close to quality of WTS, or even the off chance of bettering it) and the critics agree and give the album 4/5s and 5/5s across the board, they still won't return to their glory days of the mid 1990s. This new album could very well deserve Oasis to be propelled back to those days, but the simple fact is that the music critics won't let them.
I know it doesn't make sense, and it seems ironic, seems like some sort of paradox - everyone agree Oasis are back to their very best, but not treated as such. But I feel that's what the situation would be like. I have no idea why I think this, the only theory I can surmise is that the critics wrote Oasis as "Has Beens", some as early as 2000, but definitely by Heathen Chemisrty in 2002. Most recanted that by saying "DBTT was a return to from" but I just see the music industry being too stubborn to do a 180 and admit they were 100% wrong, and accept Oasis back into the limelight.

For example: DM - best album of the decade, WTS - amazing, BHN - over produced but under rated, SOTSOG - weak, HC - filler, DBTT - return to form I don't think that there was ever a consensus on any of these albums... from fans a critics DM might the only one for which everybody's opinion is similar althrough I'm just talking about the album in the whole, not about every song taken individually which would leads to many different opinions I'm sure
