We've seen a few mentions that the album is now complete. Yet the band are apparently waiting until September to release it.
Why do you think they would wait another 6 months to release it if it's already complete?

Usually it's up to the record company when the album is released. I'm sure there's a method to their madness. The first single is usually released 2-3 months before the album drops, so I'll be looking for one in May or June. I've been waiting 3 years for this, so another couple of months won't kill me

Isn't Coldplay's new un out end June/start of July? Summer release anyway, I would've thought that will have quite a bit to do with it. Not just because neither record company will want a 'battle', but because record companies don't like big releases competing with each other, especially now that sales are said to be falling, so they'll be wanting to maximise the sales of both records by giving them a good gap between releases.

Its a double edged sword. On one hand the album very well may be complete, but considering they're working with new promotion this time around they may want a lull in between to get that all ready. For all we know, while the songs may be fully recorded they still may not even have a title or a final tracklisting chosen. I think the biggest surprise is how quiet the Gallaghers have been.
The fact is though, we don't know exactly when the album will be released. Its been mentioned as September, which is definitely likely now with gigs being scheduled in late August/early Sept. It all depends on when the first show is. I dont see Oasis playing too many gigs before the album is released.

why is the wait so long??? uhh, they just finished mixing, which means the next step is small tweaking which takes a bit and then mastering, which can take a while to do a good job. So that's a couple or a few months, then you have promotion and pressing and album art to do and take care of all that stuff. That could tack on another month or two max. So that's April, May, June, July, and some-most of August covered ...it may take either longer or shortter to do all this- so they could probably release it in August but i guess they found a date in sept that seemed perfect and to give them a buffer in case mastering takes a longer time or other things run long. So that's why it's coming in September

thats a very good point actually. the record company in a nutshell, is a profit maximisation organisation, so it would make sense to release it when there is least competition to gain the most amount of sales.

I have it on good authority that Oasis want the album released mid-May but they have encountered a major problem in that the only recording made is with Frank Lomax and he wont give it back
