Sheppard on the orchestral arragement for the new album? www.myspace.com/philipsheppardPhilip Sheppard is a composer, virtuoso cellist and a pioneer of the electric cello. He is a professor at The Royal Academy of Music and has composed extensively for film, television and theatre and is a prolific recording artist. Philip has recently composed the Soundtrack to ‘In the shadow of the moon’ which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews. He devised the music for BBC Television's Easter production The Manchester Passion which won two Royal Television Awards as well as compositions for Horizon, Simon Schama's History of Britain and Theatre de Complicite's The Elephant Vanishes. He has recently written and recorded with Scott Walker, David Bowie, Damien Hirst, Oasis and Unkle, and appears as improvising soloist on the soundtracks of The Business, The Virgin Queen, Harry Potter: The Goblet of Fire and Hotel Rwanda.. After checking, philip sheppard does'nt appear on any oasis album credits... This guy is a genius... and has already worked with UNKLE, Beck, David Bowie etc... Just listen the track "reentry in the splashdown" on his myspace...

Very interesting. I wonder if this 'In The Shadow Of The Moon' film is linked to, or based on, the book 'Moondust: In Search Of The Men Who Fell To Earth'? The author of that book (Andrew Smith) interviewed Noel for WORD magazine in 2005 and Noel professed to having read the book. It was a very good interview and Andrew Smith went on to write some of the sleeve notes for Stop The Clocks (I think - I'd have to check). There could be a connection there.

OK, that probably sorts that out! Anyone know what he collaborated with Oasis on? That's the question... No orchestra on Don't believe the truth... But certainly on "Who put the weight of the world on my shoulders" on the Goal Soundtrack. Noel spoke about "100 piece of orchestra" for the new album since 2006... Maybe...
