Personally I hate it when bands from other eras claim to like newer bands because you know they're just lying to pretend to be 'down with the kids'. Hopefully in twenty years time Noel will be slagging off every new band that comes along. You know Liam will be. Agreed. At least Keith is saying exactly what he thinks, no harm in that (even though The Stones haven't had a good album since the late 70s).

Being a critic isn't critical.

Their name sake, Rollingstone magazine seems to be stuck in the 60's too- On the frontpage they have links to articles on Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Mariah Carey and Bruce Springsteen. They have always hated oasis too-funny that. Uhhh. Did you miss the article/front cover RS did on them back in 1996? I wouldn't say the magazine hates them...

Uhhh. Did you miss the article/front cover RS did on them back in 1996? I wouldn't say the magazine hates them... i believe that was more jumpin on the bandwagon at the time. oasis were the hottest thing then and RS was (always and still is) desperately trying to be cool and trendy. of course RS fails at that not only by putting britney on the cover and compiling stupid 500 best albums lists.... the stones stopped being great after exile on main st & the european tour of 1973. 'some girls' is good cos it manages not to suck like the rest of their post-'73 stuff does. including that new scorsese documentary. glossy pile of mtv-shite. keith's still a legend/dick though.

sorry keith, but have you listened to a bootleg of any of the stones shows from the past 10 years? the supposedly "unique" melding of guitars (where no one in particular plays lead or rhythym, but are integrated) sounds like an absolute mess where people are getting in the way of each other and just fooling around,,it sounds awful, and that's not to even start with jagger's stage presence, which is truly emberassing at his age.

Poor Keith, since he doesnt really write good songs anymore i guess he has nothing else to do.even though i'm sure Noel doesnt care what Keith thinks either....i bet Noel would agree with me that the band lost it when they lost Brian Jones :)or slightly there after.

Brian Jones didn't really write any of the Stones songs. He mainly layered parts over songs. He may've written a few songs, but that's about it.

keef has been slagging new bands since the sex pistols came along. nothing new there! still, the stones have left us a remarkable backcatalogue of groundbraking rock n roll from the sixties right through to about 75.
they are the blueprint for modern rock n roll bands to this day.
keefs mind is closed to new music and has been for decades and liam is very like him when talking about new bands too.
but they both have a profound understanding of the dynamics of what makes good rock n roll.

I think fair play to Keith for honesty in his beliefs about other music. Oasis are the same.

To be sure the Stones have not come out with a great album in decades. They have one of the longest current droughts among hall of fame rock bands. Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and others have continued to write good songs but Keith hasn't wrote anything great since Noel and Liam were in grade school.

Keith's too busy being cool these days to write songs.
