Alex Turner is a little legend he's written three quality albums in as many years and another on the way. Theres no one who can touch him at the moment he's so prolific, I agree with Noel a though he does seem a bit boring. But what a talent he is. I think this might be the last Arctic Monkeys album, before he does a Weller and moves on to something else. A good song doesn't have to 'epic' it just has to grab you one way or the other...by the bollocks or by the hand. Alex Turners songs are more thought out than Noels but I'm not having that there not as good...I think your bound to see a more noticeable progression with his music than with Noels. this

People have to get the idea of " Rock n' Roll attitudes" out of their heads. That shit doesn't exist anymore. NO band nowadays would say, " oh yea I'm a Rock Star", just doesn't happen. The people arguing that AM aren't the band of this generation aren't in this generation. Their a bunch of die hard 90's Oasis fans that can't stop living in the past.

No, of course they're not. They're OK (to be honest, i like their first album,) but they are not the new Oasis.

It's amazing that those kissing Alex Turner's ass on the RNRS Section forum think "defined a generation" is ridiculous. But it isn't. To be as good as Oasis you need to have a cultural significance a long with anthems remembered decades later. Oasis have proven to have had both elements, Arctics have yet to deliver.

can you really claim Turner to be the voice of his generation? Is it a bit early to talk about that? I mean with some acts you just know they are/were the voice of their generation but its too early to claim what arctic monkeys will be remembered for.

There first album was great but in no way are they fit to be mentioned in the same breath as Oasis, second album was awful and there new tune sounds like they've ripped off the Coral big time.
Not too mention that they're a bunch of misery arses with nothing interesting to say, there's no passion or bollocks behind their music, which is a growing trend in Indie music these days

It's too early for all of this, premature at best.

Personally i think their the best band since Oasis. i cant believe someone brought up the libertines their total shit. every kasabian song sounds the same as the last as well. Least the arctic monkeys are putting out songs that sound different and relate to people.
Most of you will be in denile anyway, those who grew up with oasis will say their better because they relate it to their youth. you wont feel most of what the arctic monkeys sing because your past it.

Los Campesions are a thousand times better, and they actually know what a melody is!
Arctic Monkeys look so dull and average compared with this new group

I'm not sure they're the biggest new band of this decade and I definitely don't think they're the best.
They're decent, nothing more, nothing less.

Nah, they're not that good. But we must realize that the music scene is not the same as 10 years ago.
