I've been thinking about recent Oasis b-sides for a while now. Why do they never play them live? Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I think the only Oasis b-sides that has been played live from this time period is One Way Road and (You've Got) The Heart Of A Star and My Generation (Not really an original Oasis song though). Imagine if they played Let's All Make Believe? I think that song would be a big live favorite? Thank You For The Good Times would also be cool to hear live.
So, I wonder? What's the general take on recent Oasis b-sides on this forum? Would they be more important if they where to be played more live? Do you think Liam should sing more b-sides?

Maybe because most of them are shit?
And yes, Liam should sing at every opportunity. Noel peaked around Giants with his singing. Then he kind of transitioned into dad rock.

Well, they're not as great as the the B-sides from '94 - '96, but come on, they're not so bad. Let's All Make Believe: Brilliant song. This really could've been a single from SOTSOG if it was an A-side. Thank You For The Good Times: Definitely better than (Probably) All In The Mind. Should have been an A-side on Heathen Chemistry. I think Heathen Chemistry would've been better Thank You For The Good Times and Shout It Out Loud was on it instead of (Probably) All In The Mind and She Is Love. Eyeball Tickler: Good rocker, but horrible title. Pass Me Down The Wine: Great song.

I would love for Pass Me Down The Wine, and Eyeball tickler to be played live. But, Liam will only sing what he wants to sing (or what he is able to still sing), he had to be forced to play Songbird on the tour. They should have more faith in Oasis fans, we won't mind them playing other songs on the set-list, in fact we hope for it.

I think the quality from Songbird hasn't been great, with the exceptions of YGTHOAS and Sittin Here In Silence.

Now you really are having a laugh....

Maybe he is talking about Noel singing on a lot of B-sides. After all, he did sung 5 (6 if you count the Gas Panic! demo from the Who Feels Love single), compared to Liams 1 song. I think that was a bit much, even though all the b-sides from that period was good. If he is talking about Noels voice peaking around SOTSOG? Come on! Have you not heard any of his recent acoustic shows?!? Just found a great example of how his voice has improved over the years: And as for what boywiththeshoes said, they should make the setlist a bit more unpredictable. Oh well, we'll see how the setlist for 08/09 gigs will look like pretty soon I guess.

c'mon guys, the b-sides are barely even fully produced anymore, they obviously don't care about them as much. The lyrics are usually half baked and a lot of them are like half songs (sittin here in silence). Eyeball Tickler? You can't be serious. I mean it is okay but just so generic. Maybe they are saving a lot of great songs for their post-contract career? That has been speculation for awhile.

Alright tune, but it's a bit short. However Eyeball Tickler, apart from the fucking horrible name, is a killer tune! And as for Oasis saving up some songs, you can bet that Noel has plenty of classics he has saved up. I remember reading about a song called Slow, which Owen Morris declared as beautiful. I think Noel said that it would never be released because it's not an Oasis song.

The last word I would attribute to Pass Me Down The Wine or The Quiet Ones was 'awesome'. Even then I'd be hesitant about applying it to anything other than Let's All Make Believe.

"Maybe because most of them are shit?"
I think the trouble is the quality of the the earlier B-Sides in comparison. The new one's aren't shit, it's just that we still expect an Acquiesce/Masterplan/Round Are Way etc when we buy a single.
How good are the songs on The Masterplan album? And they could easily put together a Masterplan II from all the other songs that were left off from the same period.
And that's the problem. The new B-sides ARE good songs, and if a new band came along with Eyeball Tickler we'd all be going mental about it. They just don't stand up against the other stuff. Obviously the band realise this as well, which is why they are still doing Acquiesce live but not any new B-sides.
We've been spoiled, that's all.

I enjoy the new Oasis b-sides very much. Let's All Make Believe is as good as any b-side (if not better) from mid 90's with the exception of The Masterplan. If they ever decide to release a "Masterplan 2" I hope Let's All Make Believe will be chosen as the song to promote it, everyone should get to hear this amazing song.
Shout It Out Loud and You've Got The Heart Of A Star is amazing aswell, not to forget Pass Me Down The Wine which is also very good. The only ones I am not very fond of is Won't Let You Down and The Quiet Ones, but apart from those the b-sides have been really good since 2000, Liam should be singing more of them though.

I think The Quiet Ones is a bit to short. Just like Sittin' Here In Silence (On My Own). Good melodies, but way to short.
I hope the new b-sides will be mostly Liam sung. Although I wouldn't mind a few from Noel either.
