Here's proof showing why Liams voice, even as bad as its gotten, is still much much needed
Noel's voice on this simply doesnt work as well

Yeah. Don't get me wrong, Noel's one of the greatest songwriters and definitely my favourite rockstar AND his voice is very good, but Liam's voice has a rock and roll edge to it. I liked it better before the cigarettes had done their damage to his vocal chords - but I still think he's got a good voice.

Well to give NOel a break it is a demo love the "come and make my world stand tall" lol But compared with Liam verison...it really does not stand up, Liam just rips Lyla apart, takes it to other level really..

I think Noel was experimenting with the falsetto vocal on this demo. Liam makes it what all great Oasis songs are, ballads sung with raw power.

Noel sounds fine on the Lyla demo, but Liam sounds better. As people have already said, this tune is more rock and suites Liam, while Noel is best with the anthems. I always preferred the Noel-sung demo version, actually

I love Liam's singing on Lyla, both the recorded and various live performances (in particular, this one: ) but I still prefer Noel's voice. To be honest, I have yet to hear a Noel-penned song that he DOESNT sing better, but that's to be expected- they are his words, his meanings and he is the only person in the world he knows how to sing them properly.

With all due respect back...... I never claimed anything different. I think Noel would have made it on his own, anyway, but it would have taken longer. I have massive, huge respect for Liam - he is fantastic and my second favourite artist of all-time.

Come on, mate. As much as I love Noel, I don't agree with that. You honestly think songs like Gas Panic!, Go Let It Out and Stop Crying Your Heart out sounds better with Noel on vox?

Both Liam and Noel are equally important. Noel is the brains behind the band. And the best song writer, of course. And has the more conventional voice, which fits anthems and acoustic songs very well.
Liam is the image, attitude, and passion of the band. Along with his trademark sneering vocals that, as discussed above, fit perfectly with the songs he does sing.
I like Noel more because he's smarter and wittier. In his interviews he ALWAYS has something smart to say.
But for the sake of the band, both are needed.

Yeah, I prefer the Noel-sung versions of these songs, in particular Gas Panic & SCYHO.

I agree with live4evr and jenny... Lyla is much better when Liam sings it! As i said in some other thread, I think there are songs for Liam to sing and others for Noel to sing And yeah both Liam and Noel are needed It wouldn't be Oasis without them, they are complementary and each brings something unique to the band

Noel sung versions of the rock songs, they just sound so limp. He has zero snarl and zero edge in his voice. I mean I love the guy, but it is way more suited to a ballad like don't look back in anger. When he sings with the full band, it's just not there. NO EDGE

Yes, it has been so for over a decade already (listen to live versions on BHN singles, and it's been over a decade ago). But he's still the MAN (one of them), and sings good on recent records.
