Like everyone here, I am buzzing for the new album. I've got a good feeling it is going to be a belter. There's one thing I'd like them to do though - let Zak Starkey loose on the drums. The 'Don't Believe' drums are stringent, traditional rock drumming. Nothing wrong with that, but if you've got a drummer who has made a living out of imitating Keith Moon, why not get him doing it in the studio?
Thoughts? It would really shake up the Oasis sound (in a good way). If this album is the wild, loud, out there, rocking masterpiece that they say it is, then surely the drums should reflect this!
Peace to all Oasis lovers!

Agree with what your saying, i think that every band member is sort of let loose in that way & always putting ideas forward, by the way i do think he is a great drummer, the drumming on lyla is quite special especially the bit where its comes in near the beginning, i also agree with you when you say the album is going to be a belter, i cant wait to hear the nes stuff although i will hear it legally when its released i will not give in to the leaks! But honestly this could be the album that makes them as big as they were in 1995, i can feel it!

But honestly this could be the album that makes them as big as they were in 1995, i can feel it! Sorry, but are you being serious?!?! There is no way in hell they will ever be that big again, with that much national excitement and popularity, it just won't happen. I doubt if ANY band will be as popular as that ever again, being honest. In terms of the drumming, I'm not crazy on Zak. In a perfect "Oasis World" I'd like Noel to drum on the recordings and then Terry to tour with them. I don't really see why Noel can't do the drumming on the recorded versions.

I have a feeling that Zak's influence will grow on this album since he is probably more comfortable with the band by now after doing an album with them and going through a full tour. Even over the course of their last tour, you could tell he was really settling in with Oasis and started to let loose. Think about Gem and Andy on Heathen Chemistry...their influence wasn't that big or noticeable, but on Don't Believe The Truth they were obvious integral parts of many of the songs and their playing (both live and in the studio) seems much more loose. I think Zak will have the same thing happen this time around...he's going to tear it up on the next album.

The drumming on this album will be interesting. Zak seems like more of an uptempo let's rock this place kind of drummer...so it's going be interesting since we know this album will be somewhat psychedelic, which doesn't really give the drummer alot of freedom.
