I alluded to this last week, but due to the Live4evr fiasco kind of wasnt discussed soo....
At least musically, I feel Oasis is the band of the people. Whether its working class or middle class or whatever doesnt matter.
They sing about us, you, me
Live Forever, Rocking Chair, Importance of Being Idle, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Talk Tonight, are just some examples
Yes, we can all relate to the message of other bands like Bono's Sunday Bloody Sunday. But that event he sings about only directly influenced a small number of people.
While everyone can connect to most of Oasis's songs on a personal, direct level.
Not saying the bands like U2 are superior...nor am I saying they are inferior. Just that there's two types of ROCK music: Poetic/Deep/Political and Connectedness/Emotional to the average person
Group 1: Arcade Fire Coldplay U2
Group 2: The Jam Oasis Twang
Thoughts? Or am I just over analyzing and talking nonsense once again? lol

Not going to flip out again cos already did lol. And i dont give a fuck anymore haha, goes with the territory. But there's a reason why this section exists, and why the lounge exists. I just find it sad we can't have a serious discussion.
And I find it pathetic that you tell me im wrong and talking nonsense, but you never say why. you never counter it.
But if you want to keep talking about generic stuff like every oasis song, etc and ignore more thought provoking questions, then that's your choice.
Anyway, I stand by my opinion.
Actually, i was wrong slightly -- there's of course more than 2 styles of rock. it's not that simplistic, it's not that black and white. but the 2 most common are the 2 outlined above -- and i stand by that.....

Dear this topic is not provocking at all It just very cliche actually OAsis band of the people, coming from england working class, inherited from the thatcher era... Obviously oasis has a few songs refering to an everyday life in working middle class but it's not their "characteristic" point one song on DBTT that "talks" to the people or talk to you on a direct level I don't know you very well but I don't think you qualify as working class either, secondary studies in a big uni and all... I love oasis but I can't really relate to their songs ;D I love cigs and alcohol but I'm not even a smoker! And I hate cigarettes, they're nasty! Maybe part of the queue when I have to queue at the post office (that would be an insult to POTQ)

Cigarettes and Alcohol is about being young, not knowing what to do with your life but at the same time not giving a fuck, and rebelling.... Part of the Queue is about the hum drum of every day life and not being able to fit in. It's about frustration. "Every beginning has broken its promise" is one of Noel's best ever lines....

I think you're all being a bunch of vaginas. It's a perfectly innocent topic that you have all chosen to drag through the mud. Sure Headshrinker has a lot of posts, many about nothing at all, but you as the reader have the right to read what he's saying. For instance I saw the topic and who it was by and I knew right away what it was going to be about. You all complain about how he posts the same stuff over again, well maybe if you didn't piss away so much of your time reading his articles then you wouldn't have this problem.
As for those who keep telling him to get a gf, we get it you're all big manly men, now fuck off because personally I'm just as sick of your mental ejaculation as I am his.

I had typed a very long post but deleted it, I was only ranting I agree that Bono gets a lot of his inspiration from what's going on in the world and that Oasis don't get much into that (and in life Bono is a "rockhumanitarian" and noeliam don't give a fuck) but I don't like labelling and noel surprised us with mucky fingers so where is the world going i tell you I relate to Noel when he says he's getting older ;D

I know what C&A is about btw thanks for reminding me no seriously can you relate to it? I can't I drink when I go out, I don't smoke and hate it I'm not a rebel and I do give a fuck actually I'm not sure you can directly relate as well When you listen to it do you feel like it talks about your life? From what I know about you, your life is very different from that You care about lots of things, you have a lot of interests and you're a driven individual you study pol sciences in a good uni, you stick for the republicans... hell you're as far as C&A as I am talk about rebels! ;D So of course I agree that this song has a deep meaning and I'm sure that some people can relate to it but it's a lot about despair and I really hope not too many ppl relate to it! It's fun to think ourselves as rebels for one night, for fun during a drunk night and it's what music is about too, escape yourself from your everyday life and have fun, but being in that state of mind is sad "there's nothing worth working for..." the song is genius though
