We'll be able to see if any of the "Q interview" rumours were remotely true.
I bet there won't even be anything about the new album in it...

This is the one and only thing I can't stand about Oasis. Little to no communication with their fan base who happen to be fiercely loyal. I don't think it would kill them to give us the occasional update. It takes 5 minutes and if every other planet on the face of the earth can, so can they.

Did the Beatles go into the studio telling everybody exactly what their new album was going to sound like? Most of the reason Sgt Peppers blew everyone away was because it was the last thing in the world people were expecting. Now obviously I don't expect Oasis to be making another Sgt Pepper, but I think it does add a something when you listen for the first time and don't really know what to expect.

Not really the point I was trying to make, but ok. Also, you're not seriously comparing 2008 to 1967 are you mate? I guarantee things would have been VASTLY different for the Beatles had the internet existed in those days. We, and I speak for 99.9% of the people on this board at this point would give their left arm for SOMETHING, anything to look forward to. Especially since it's been made clear, by Noel, that they're finished recording and it's being/been mixed. I'm not trying to be a prick. I'm just trying to differentiate between two drastically different periods in music history.

I'm just trying to differentiate between two drastically different periods in music history. Nah I hear you bro, I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say. I too wanna know stuff like what kind of feel the album will have, how many songs each guy wrote, are their orchestras or not, what the first single is, etc...BUT what I don't want is to listen to crappy demo leaks or 45 sec samples or even worse leaked albums like HC. It's cool to know little things, but I don't want so much that it takes away from the album after it's actually in my possession. And of course I know how much the internet has changed music with seemingly every album leaking in some way...My point with the Beatles was they always seemed to surprise their fans no matter what album it was. And I truly believe it would've been the same exact way had they been around now. Then again I also think they would never ever be nearly as popular as they were back in the 60's if they came out today so...

I couldn't agree with you more. I've made a promise to myself that this time, unlike DBTT, I'm not listening to anything before the official release. This includes the first single. I don't know, after 3 years I just want everything to be fresh and untainted.

I'll give you a lot of credit if you can live up to your word. When the leak comes though and everything goes crazy, it will be hard to hang on.

I'll be tough for sure but sooooo sweet on release day. Like X-Mas in May(hopefully May) . I'd sacrifice my first born right now for a tracklisting or a release date (half kidding). Come on lads!

Yeah but Sgt Pepper's was released like 10 months after Revolver so ;D Probably 10 months was a long wait back then but c'mon...3 years between albums? what the hell?!

I'm going to listen to the first single (and probably its B-sides) as I would feel a bit stupid being 'the guy who likes Oasis' and not even knowing their new song. I'll avoid leaks and what not, though.
Edit: I got this magazine that was published in 2002, which had all the NME reviews and articles about the Beatles from the 60's. The one on Sgt Pepper read, "It's good...But was it worth the wait?" ¬¬

The Beatles also stopped touring and basically spent all their time in the studio. Oasis didn't end their world tour til 06, and then factor in Noel's laziness and here we are. Personally I'd rather them take their time than just put out a bunch of scrapped DBTT songs to appease the impatient fans

I just want the album as a whole to be new across the board and not have one track that sort of sticks out, like Lyla, somewhat over shadowing the others if that makes any sense. Listen, as long as Stop The Clocks is on this record and the record as a whole is anywhere near as psychedelic as SOTSOG I'll be happy.

The issue was actually out today. I had a flick through it, and couldn't see anything on the new album. Didn't have any cash to buy it, though

When he says "he's taking the year off", yes I take that as he was doing nothing Oasis related except maybe a song here or there when it came to him.
