Noel hates this song. No one on this forum seems to mention it, and when it is mentioned it's normally criticized.
But personally, i always loved it. And still do.
Great in your face sound. Good lyrics.
And the guitar solo in the 4th min, is mind blowing.
The only problem is the last 2mins. Needs to have been shorten and cut all the "its getting man" x 1000 at the very end.
But apart from the excessive ending, I think its a monumental song

It's good, but too long.

Great song, one of my favorites Actually, the guitar bit in the end is my favorite part of the song I like the ending too. But there are too many "its getiting better man" then The last 2mins are just "Its getting man", if they had cut that down to 30seconds - 1 min, it would have been perfect But does the last 2 repetitve mins, really warrant this song as crap? It's Getting Man sums up BHN perfectly: Big sound, guitar solos galore, not profound lyrics but a few witty lines, and too long

it's one of my favorite oasis songs. I don't care if it's too long, if there's about a million guitars on top of each other, if the lyrics are silly. I just don't care. The song is great. Liam's vocals are great, alan's drumming is great, Noel's solo is great...

It's a good song.... the bridge it's pretty good, it would be a top tune if had about 4 or 5min... I like the guitar solo... it's not monumental but it goes along perfectly with the song and I think that's what matters....

Indeed. Clapton with the Blues Breakers should be owned by anyone even slightly interested in guitar.

Valid point about Bluesbreakers, top guitar work indeed.
I think many of you would agree that a key entity of a good rock band is proper guitar work. Though Be Here Now does not have revolutionary, ground-breaking guitar solos, its overall guitar work is quite extraordinary. A close listen to each song reveals some of the finest melodies included on a rock album in the past 15 years. I swear each time I give it a listen I hear something new, and I have listened to this album countless times. Yes the songs are long and the lyrics are questionable, but the ideas of each song are as good as any other.
Noel claims that he was out of his mind during the sessions, which is probably true, but they were all out of their minds for the first 3 albums. Incidentally, many critics seem to think that their first 3 albums are their best 3 albums.

Just great rock and roll and a GREAT vocal. And as a guitar player I would agree the "solos" are ridiculously simple, but you know what? They sound really good. I mean they aren't even solos in the traditional sense, most of them. Just a lot of fills and extended fills. I love it though. When I sat down to learn these songs the technique was not a problem at all. And I'm a pretty average guitar player. The hard part was remembering where to put all the great melodic fills that he throws in all through be here now. The break down and then solo before the chorus, man does that sound great.

It's Getting Better (Man)!! is a bangin tune, proper rock and roll, the repetitive "it's getting better man"s at the end don't even get to me really, just stick it on and it's just pure rawk grooviness! I do think My Big Mouth edges in front slightly though, but I love both, Be Here Now is sooo underrated, tunes like this were wrongly ignored.

Everytime I listen to it, I just feel good. Like you said, they're almost just pounding HEY IT'S GETTIN BETTER MAN! into your head and ya know what? It works. Yes the guitars are almost indistinguishable since there's so damn many, but like most of BHN, the song just punches you in the mouth and gets you going. Just the perfect song to cruise to on a nice summer day with the windows open I really, truly believe if BHN had more of a DBTT production, it would've gone on to be just as good if not better than WTSMG. If you can get past all the noise and guitar layers, almost every song on that album has just an incredible melody to it. Obviously it will never happen, but I'd love if one day Noel remixed BHN, similar to what George Martin did with the Love album. Imagine hearing Don't Go Away with more of a Masterplan type of instrumental, or picture The Girl In the Dirty Shirt with more a She's Electric type of Instrumental...Like I said, it's not happening...but I just feel like they wasted all these great songs

I really, truly believe if BHN had more of a DBTT production, it would've gone on to be just as good if not better than WTSMG. If you can get past all the noise and guitar layers, yeah, IF you can. Lot of people have not. Not even noel himself can be bothered, now looking back, getting past them . And he fuckin made that album. almost every song on that album has just an incredible melody to it. True. Noel said that he had basically the whole album written two years before it came out, which actually i think means that he had the musical parts seeded. The lyrics came later as is pretty obvious. I think he just adapted and mixed those ideas to that time (an uninspired one - as noel says), and the result was potential, but in its own way a letdown BHN. It just was too much of something. Obviously it will never happen, but I'd love if one day Noel remixed BHN, similar to what George Martin did with the Love album. Imagine hearing Don't Go Away with more of a Masterplan type of instrumental, ...and imagine hearing it with better lyrics. Maybe Noel should just rewrite all those songs and consider BHN being just a demo he made of his songs to be completed later. ..but I just feel like they wasted all these great songs yeah, i kinda feel the same...there was lot of good stuff but they were spoiled to an extent (more or less, depending on the song) with too many wrong adjustments. It would be kind of funny and weird, that noel would take all those ideas (that were once already given to the world) and make something other out of it. Take it back to the scrapping board. Writing better lyrics, better production and arrangements. Writing the same songs all over again literally. yeah, and then doing it again,,, keep on writing the same songs over and over again. It would be like the next challenge again. Ok, how can i make these songs better this time, maybe i write about this and this....

But apart from the excessive ending, I think its a monumental song Ive gotta an announcement to make. Noel does not hate the song. I´ve justed listened an interview of Noel under the release of "Stop The Clocks" and the actual quote is: "most of the songs on BHN could have done with some editing, theyre quite long. Its just too long. I think "DYKWIM" is great and "My Big Mouth" is great, and "ITS GETTING BETTER MAN"is great and "all around the world"..." you can download the interview here (listen at 23:00): spinner.aol.com/artists/the-interface/noel-gallagher"..those songs are the casualties cause those are the songs we never play live anymore..." "we were poor when we recorded DM and WTSMG, and we were fat and rich when we recorded BHN, and i think it comes out on the albums.."
