When I see reviews of this song, almost all of them call it "cheesy"
I think its a great song though. One of Liam's best vocals. Good lyrics too - i dont find it cheesy at all!
And the outro is so beautiful
I really loved it when i heard that Liam had trouble singing this live at first because it was personal to him, and made him sad and the like. That's what Oasis are all about. EMOTIONS. Most of the time its a "i dont give a fuck", but they have this sensitive side too, and they really do connect with the average person.
My only complaint about DGA, is that it sounds so similar to Slide Away. Slide Away is by far superior of course, and i feel DGA is Noel trying to recreate that song.
But overall, DGA is beautiful and a top song in it's own right.
I hope the next album has a song like DGA/Slide Away....both are sensitive and somewhat deep songs, but without being to emotional....Oasis hardly ever go over the top with things like that
But yeah, i love that tune!

Absolutely beautiful song! It reminds me of a song between Slide Away and Stop Crying Your Heart Out. Like live4ever says, we should have a new one one like this on the new album.

Don't Go Away always felt somewhat I guess calculated for lack of a better word. When I listen to it, I think of Noel sitting down saying to himself "I'm gonna write a sensitive ballad." I mean yes some of the lyrics are great, and then some of them are terrible (..In the time of my life/Cause I need some time). I think it's really up to whoever is singing this song. If Liam sung this song today, it would be AWFUL! However, when Noel sang it at the acoustic show, it sounded awesome. Why? Because he can still sing it with that tremble and sensitivity that Liam lost a long time ago. Point being I don't think the words nor the music itself could carry this song

I always liked the song better when they did it live (like on SNL in '97...that was a terrific live performance of that song) as opposed to the studio track. It seemed like one of those songs where there was more energy when they did it live. But yeah...today it would probably sound shitty if the whole band did it together.

[glow=red,2,300]some of them are terrible (..In the time of my life/Cause I need some time).[/glow] given what he was writing the song for, why is that terrible? "So dont go away, say what you say Say that youll stay Forever and a day..... in the time of my life Cos I need more time, yes I need more time Just to make things right"
for me, these are powerful, meaningful lyrics

Yeah that version on SNL in 97' was well-executed. I remember Noel's guitar was so distorted, but it complimented the song's sentiment. Oasis also played 'acquiesce' that evening and it was equally as fantastic.

(maybe its so cocaine bloated) I think its just too much something - i think it got something to it, but still there is something wrong with that song... i feel like its just too much. dont know
