Ok, i know most will criticize me for doing this, AGAIN. But if you dont like it, dont post. simple. lol.
After 2.5 years of listening to DBTT i want to give MY final review of it, song by song. Mainly cos i'm listening to it right now lol. But also, since ive listened it to fuck knows how many times (even in a given day), as i think most of us have, this will be a full complete review imo
1.) TUTS: I love it. Strong opener. Good attitude. Good live (See Manchester 2005): 9/10
2.) Mucky Fingers: Still rather boring. But some good lyrics, and the outro drumming by Zak (especially live) saves it from a complete disaster: 7/10
3.) Lyla: Just posted on it lol. Typical Oasis song. Great fun, good guitar solo, great stomper live (again see Manchester 2005): 9/10
4.) LLAB: Posted on this too haha. Beautiful. Especially when it explodes when the piano comes in: 9/10
5.) Importance of Idle: Best song on the album. Different. Noel delivers great lyrics again. Nice little guitar solo early in too: 10/10
6.) Meaning of Soul: Great attitude and energy. Good song to play when pissed off: 7/10
7.) Guess God Thinks I'm Abel: Overall solid song. Chorus is great. But i cringe with the time/crime line: 8/10
8.) Part of the Queue: Wonderful song, all around. "Every begining has broken it's promise" is one of Noel's best one liners. 10/10
9.) Keep the Dream Alive: I swear this is the most forgotten Oasis song (atleast from DBTT). Fantastic lyrics. But a bit to generic Oasis, a bit too long too. Would have fit on BHN. Similar to Stand by Me: 7/10
10.) A Bell Will Ring: I like it as the song goes on, but overall, i find it slightly preachy: 6/10
11.) Let there be Love: Had potential to be mega. Noel needed to add another verse (Come on baby blue part is STUNNING), and shorten the outro. But he didn't, and it suffers for that. 6/10
Overall, i find this a top album. We have our DM, we dont need another one. So while i understand why some people find this album boring, that's probably due to it being compared to DM.
What this album has though is great flow. An Oasis album hasnt flowed this well since DM and MG. Every track blends in with the one that came before it. It doesnt sound jaded, and nothing sounds out of place. Which i believe helps support my theory that Oasis are now more mature, more determined, and more focused than ever. Wanting to get these things right.
The fact that basically every song on here stands up, and the fact that the entire album is frequently and sometimes even daily played after 2.5 years speaks volumes. You can't say that about SOTSOG or HC an you?
I can't be bothered digging through the archives and finding my many other reviews about this album. But i'm sure this is the highest ive given it. I've grown to love it. IMO It's tied with BHN for Oasis's 3rd best album (i give BHN the slight edge though just cos thats a fuckin fun album, but DBTT is def more mature)
It is indeed a return to form. Bring on the 2008 release!
Average Song Rating: 8/10 But i'm giving it an 8.5/10 due to the above parragraphs.

I still don't get why Meaning Of Soul is not electric... Saw the Brit Awards the other night and the electric version is way cooler...
TIOBI and POTQ are really good so I agree with live4evr on those
as for playing it... mine is like new and I still play SOTSOG an awful lot!!!! I think I'll listen to DBTT today to see how I like it now...

Nice one

pretty surprised this album gets stick on this forum.
Don't believe the truth is a good album. the production is probaby oasis's best on any album..the songs flow very well...there isn't a really bad tune on it, "at worse there is a average tune maybe. but it is oasis trying to be a bit more inventive which i like.
and the highlights for me on that album are..Mucky fingers, the importance of being idle, part of the queue, the meaning of soul and A bell will ring..

here is my short track by track review
TUTS-Pure swagger. Great drums and love the lyrics and harmonies. 9/10 MF-It gets old after awhile. But the lyrics are top stuff. Noel also sings this one quite well. Great live 7.5/10 Lyla-Its a pretty good tune. A bit poppy but its go some great moments. Zak's drums are great on this track. Love the "catch me when i fall part". 8.5/10 LLAB-Amazing song. The lyrics are simple but there pretty solid. The piano bit is just magical. Better than SB10/10 TIOBI- Instant Classic. So refreshing and new. Sounds like the la's and the kinks. Love the solo in there. Top vocal from Noel. Its got a great charm. 10/10 TMOS- Its got a nice hook but it would have been better if it was electric. Its one of those short Liam rock tunes. Some bad lyrics but great energy still probably the worse on the album though its an average tune. 6.5/10 GGTIA-Liam is a genius for connecting the Abel and Cain to him and Noel. The lyrics are great. The outro is immense. So underrated one of the best songs on the album. 10/10 POTQ-Some of the best drumming from an Oasis song on this number. Great lyrics great vocal. Its classic Oasis with a different feel to it. 10/10 KTDA-I love that opening guitar riff. Its the most Oasis like song. It goes on a bit but its still an enjoyable track and i love the lyrics. 7.5/10 ABWR-Used to be my least favorite but now i've grown to like it. Love the "all will be brand new" part. I would have rather had Eyeball tickler but this is a solid track. 7/10 LTBL-Everyone hates on this song. I find it amazing. Love the duet idea. Liam's voice sounds top and when Noel kicks in it takes the song to another level. The outro is alright its got a cool retro feel to it. 9.5/10
thats 95.5/110 which is like a 87% which is about where i would judge it. As an album it has the best flow too it. I know i gave out a lot of tens but thats my personal taste.

TIOBI is def a classic, great tune. LTBL doesnt get the love around here it deserves. What would you change about that song???

TIOBI is def a classic, great tune. LTBL doesnt get the love around here it deserves. What would you change about that song??? I really like LTBL the way it is. It really suits the album. People say it drags a bit at the end but thats my favorite part of the song. But if I was to change anything? Maybe include a guitar solo after Noel's part.

it definitely needs more rock.. lord don't slow me down and a few of the out takes that noel still has up his sleeve should do the trick.

6/10 album, tops. a lot of filler, and some unlistenable tunes (LTBL, KTDA), and ow many times can you hear ABWR, TMOS, LLAB?
Mucky Fingers is the only tune that survives this album along with the greatness of TIOBI.
Thats about it.
