Pretty simple. I'm interested in how many people are on here because they like Oasis (but like someone else better) and how many are on here because Oasis are absolutely the best band in the world. I'm in the latter.

I don't think they are the best in the world but, then again, I can't think of any modern band I would listen to more.

I've got a different answer... Oasis is my fave band and will prob stay my fave band forever Number one whatever happens! But right now, considering the last albums around they're not the best I'm more excited about Muse for example

They're my favourite band ever but not the best... I know a local guy who is unsigned but is technically better than them, best songwriter i've ever heard.

Without a shadow of a doubt: Yes! A band has never had the same impact on me like Oasis have. Been into them since 2000, and no band have ever come close to Oasis I think. Best band in the world!

However good music is should totally depend on how it makes you feel. That's it. So what if Van Halen plays the guitar faster, so what if Whitney Houston has a technically better voice than Liam or Noel. If it makes you feel better than any other music, it's the best. That's how I see it anyway.

Whether they are or not is subjective, whether they are a particular person's favourite band is a clearer way of putting it.

How do you really rate best band in the world? Musicianship? Energy? Passion? Songwriting abilities? And then do you break it down by genre? Really, you'll find more often than not that it is apples and oranges you're comparing. Somewhere along the way Oasis fans thought that being an Oasis fan was like rooting for a sports team...Oasis should be judged relative to their own potential and their own releases, not anyone else.

I think being the best band in the world is about how people feel about band....not how many records you have sold, gigs played, awards won... its if the people are still feel something for them, I know how I feel about Oasis, these days to me, alot of people don't seem to be as passionate about Oasis as they were.

the best as far as "all around johnny rock band" is concerned. no question. Ha! What does that mean? when you consider the albums they put out, their live sound, the huge world tours, their rabid world-wide fan base, and all of the other intangibles (bravado, lifestyle, etc) it's hard for all but a few bands to compete. U2, Coldplay, and foo fighters come to mind, but none of them even really nail all of the above criteria in quite the same way as oasis. If I had to explain rock n roll to a martian, I'd exhibit oasis.
