Hi all, i know that this probably not the best thing to do in this forum but i really need help with this one. I am doing a university dissertation about the affects that hooliganism had on the revenues of football clubs. I would really appreciate the help and would be very grateful for any help that people could give. All of this will remain confidential and only the data that has been stated, will be used.
The help that i need is for people to fill out a short questionnaire. The idea is that you copy and paste (ctrl c and ctrl v), either in reply to this post or PM me. Simply put [X] in the appropriate box. e.g.

I am a Wednesday fan and had to attend Hillsborough for the period directly following the Hillsborough Disaster, it has hard seeing the Leppings Lane end covered over to keep people from seeing what had happened and having the away fans moved into the North Stand. However there is a feeling that much of the trouble was caused by the Liverpool fans themselves turning up very late to the game, many in drink and without tickets. If they had turned up at a reasonable time then the disaster may have been averted. There is no mention of the Liverpool fans stampeeding through gardens in the area surrounding the ground just before the start of the game. Obviously there was a lack of planning from the football authorities, obviously forest had to have the Kop end as they were the closer club and they caused no problem. With any other club that visited Hillsborough and filled the Leppings Lane end there had been no problems, however the actions of the Liverpool fans in this matter were the catalyst for the disaster. The fencing of grounds in the 80's was mandatory and nothing could be done as we all know these fences were there to keep fans from the pitch and the small gates were just insufficient to let people out. I attended a match at Notts County in 1991 when something similar nearly occurred and as an 11 year old boy I had to climb over the razor fence to gain access to the pitch as we were being crushed at the front and again at Mansfield in the same year when the Mansfield grounds staff would not let fans out after the game, leading to a crush at the exit gate, again being a boy of 11 with only my dad for company this was a poor environemnt to be in. Obviously lessons were not learnt early on after Hillsborough but now they have been , however this has ditracted from the atmosphere at most grounds. I know that at Wednesday now all the hooligan element have moved away from the Kop and now sit in the North Stand closest to the away fans, just to be closer to them and rile them up. They all stand and make other fans unable to see, however what can you do, there are not enough police to take 200-300 fans out of the ground as the Police facilities in South Yorkshire can not cater for this amount of prisoners. I do believe that the Police were not to blame, I believe there actions would be done again if the same situation arose at the same time period. In situations like this there are decisions to be made and no one can state that they would not have opened the gates in to the ground as they were not there. No one person can be to blame for this disaster it was a catalogue of errors however if the Liverpool fans had been sensible and not drunk then the disaster would not have occurred.
Thanks
