Hey, is it just me or was is extremely dangerous what he did?
In normal speed replay it looks awfully violent... and by the moment of the game with your your heart beating at its max... he could have killed the italian player.

Much as Materazzi is a tool and a provactive big prick, Zidane is clearly a mentalist, I am really surprised he is not facing an assault charge, after all Lee Bowyer and Dyers handbags at dawn episode landed Bowyer in the high court and no one was even struck! and Duncan Ferguson spent three months in jail for a headbut on an opponent whilst in Scotland. Lets be honest if anyone on this forum did that on a night out they would most likely be lifted by the police and charged with assault!

Also on a football note FIFA the muppets DO NOT ALLOW use of video replays for incidents, the fourth official saw the ZZ headbut on a TV monitor, the lino and ref never saw it. Therefore he was sent off on based on the use of this video footage ONLY!, in contravention of FIFA's own rules. It was obviously the right decision but if they can use video replays for this incident, how many others should have been looked at in the World Cup! Zidane like the other great genius players clearly has a flawed side to his character (Cantona, Maradona, Georgie Best!), he has certainly seen red for violent conduct several times.

i agree lucky he didnt cause a fatality
what WAS zidane thinking? replays showed an exchange of words and then enough time for him to walk away
is there something about excellent french player losing there marbles (ie cantona, zidane)
and did his sending off ultimately cost his team the match?

Any hard hit to the heart could be fatal. |

Well I didn't expect something like that to happen! Looked like he'd been watching Keano before the final ;D I'm glad he won the Golden ball though, he played great throughout the tournament (latter stages espcially) and deserved the award. Shame that his headbutt will overshadow his career though. One paper is claiming that Materazzi called Zidane an 'Arab terrorist'. See here. If thats true its a disgrace, especially from that twat Materazzi. He must have said something extremely bad for Zidane to do that though. |
