If the bigger nations pay the players I don't think its that much compared to what they get from their club.

But some of these smaller nations are getting quite a bit (See the Togo thread in the World Cup section). Trindad & Tobago players are even getting a piece of land or something like that. And the Saudi king has given the players a bit I think, he's definitely splashed out alot on this world cup anyway.

big national teams don't pay, they just take players from clubs (that's one of the problems clubs have with FIFA). If they make a good championship the national federation gives them a price (I don't know the exact english word). For example, if Spain is eliminated in 1st round they dont get money, but from that moment on they get money as they pass rounds (and more money every round)
