The moment of truth is fast approaching for Costa Rica. Alexandre Guimaraes’ outfit, who fell to Germany in their opening game, know that only a win will do in their next match against Ecuador if they are to maintain realistic aspirations of qualifying for the last 16.

At the moment, their hopes of a reprieve appear to lie squarely on the shoulders of strike duo Paulo Wanchope and Ronald Gomez.

In the countdown to the clash that could decide Costa Rica’s fate in Germany, FIFAworldcup.com spoke to Deportivo Saprissa forward Gomez about the challenge facing the Ticos, the positives to be taken from the Germany game, areas for improvement and his own personal targets for Germany 2006.

On the the last point, his aim is simple: two goals, one in each game, and Costa Rican qualification.
