I hadn't realised how much I relate to these lyrics. Most relevant band of the last 20 years, at least in my world.

I'll probably never "get" Arcade Fire, but I get this. Such a massive tune. Hadn't heard it for quite some time, and when the piano part kicked in I was almost caught off guard.

Mike Oldfield-Moonlight Shadow
This song has been popping up at the most random moments and places lately. Superweird.

Such a touching tribute to a friend, and all people who are stigmatized as "different" or "foreign" in their home countries. Also you know it's a good song when they can sing a paraphrase of the kinda cheesy "fear leads to anger" thing that Yoda always says in the Star Wars prequels, as half of the chorus and have the entire thing work so damn well. Respect.

Slomo - Slowdive Opening song from the album with jewel. I've always thought of this song as Slowdive's DYKWIM. Which sounds like an insane comparison, considering how they're on opposite ends of the subtlety spectrum, but underneath Slomo's gentle euphoric bliss I've always heard a slight air of arrogance. The kind of arrogance that comes with something that's so perfect and very much aware of it. And as beautiful as Slomo is, I can't help but hear undercurrents of a huge "FUCK YOU" to all the people who ever hated or mocked the band. The song's tone is triumphant to me, and rightfully so, given how incredible it and the whole album is, and in Slomo and the rest of the album, I hear a band that knew exactly how good the comeback album they were making was and how much it was gonna blow people away.

I had never heard of them until I heard Star Roving for the first time and courtesy of all the people with great music taste on this forum including you, I got to know them. I wasn't planning to buy the album when I was in my local record shop on a Friday afternoon, bu I thought why not try? I'm happy that I bought the album and got to see them in packed Paradiso in October 2017. As you said, they knew what they are and how good their come back album will be and indeed it blew me away. Now I'm listening to The Arbor by The Twilight Sad for countless time.

I don't even know the names of the albums tbh But I think I heard that "O.J. track", and it was pretty good if I remember it correctly.

I'm not the biggest Jay fan in the world but he has plenty of classic tracks and albums. Honestly, anything off the three I mentioned are good. Watch the Throne isn't half bad, either.
