Fontaines DC- “Favourite” and “Starburster”. 2 of the best songs I’ve heard in 20 years! Literally played them both on repeat for over a week now. Both incredible songs! “Favourite” is a glorious jingly jangly song with gorgeous melody, great lyrics and hits me in the right spot nostalgia wise.
“Starburster” is the best song I’ve heard since “club foot” who this song incidentally sounds like early peak kasabian. Everything about it is perfect; the synth, piano opening, the great drum beat, the swagger on the verses that make you feel100ft tall listening to it and the absolutely sublime bit near the end. Just epic and I think it will be the song that blows the doors open for them. Play it loud and a few times in a row and it’ll get you. If I was a boxer then this would be my entrance song.br][
br]Both great videos too (not that that matters much) would put on here but not sure how to.
Slowly checking out their other songs. Can easily see myself falling in love with this band

They have a lot of potential and great live.

Can easily see myself falling in love with this band Romance is quite different than their previous albums and I actually had to give a listen to this album a couple of times, but now I’m loving this album. They have a lot of potential and great live. 👍 I’ve got “romance” but just been constantly playing “favourite” and “starburster”. I’m always like that with certain songs; With the LG/JS LP I constantly played “just another rainbow” and “Mars to Liverpool” barely playing the others until I finally did and loved them. Same thing with “Once” and “everything’s electric”. I’ve checked some of Fontaines DC songs on YT and I’m really liking some of them. “Boys in the better land”, “I love you” etc. From I’ve been reading about them they don’t repeat themselves and are constantly evolving. Heard some very high praise for their earlier 3 LP’s. I’m very slow TBH to new bands; I don’t listen to BBC Radio 6 etc so good bands can easily skip me by. Plus I must admit I’m very critical of young bands as I constantly compare them to The Stone Roses, peak Oasis, peak Arctic Monkeys, peak Kasabian so I tend to pour scorn on them. TBF I think some of this criticism has been justified as I’ve extremely rarely heard anything “good” the last 20 years. The DMA’s being the exception; love their debut LP and I think they are a great band (though even them I started to go off with their poppy, experimental newer stuff). I like some of the Blossoms stuff but not enough to be crazy about them. From what I’ve heard of “Romance” I can see me maybe being hit and miss with it but like you, eventually really liking the LP in time. It seems very Depeche mode/the cure/ the stone roses with “favourite”, joy division, early kasabian with “starburster”. Loving the lead singer though. He seems a great frontman. I’m hoping Fontaines DC can be that band I’ve waited for

Californication by Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I’ve find them very overrated TBH like kings of Leon. Can’t stand Anthony keidis; horrible interview with him and flea (another twat) with a Canadian woman interviewer back in the 90’s. Total tossers . Not funny with it either. Lacking in charisma, charm etc. Just a total A hole. Plus numerous rumours he was on a certain islands flight lists………

Fields Of Fire by Big Country because it's on the radio now. Big Country made some really good records in the 80s but this song is my favourite by them and it's a shame what happened to their lead singer a good few years after their hey day.
