I just think the Oasis fans here in the States aren't just new ones from DBTT. There may be a few Lyla did get plays. But most of the fans that go to the shows would be ones that heard "Wonderwall" or "Champagne Supernova" or heard from a friend or somethin' and stuck with them and listened to more of their stuff IE discovering Definitely Maybe and then getting hooked.

#89 is an absolute disaster. This is like a worst case scenario. It's safe to say Noel is pissed he wasted his time playing those North American shows. "They've just come off their most successful North American tour ever. They've sold out some of the biggest venues on the continent. They're more popular than ever in North America." Wow, man. you gotta get your facts straight. You are way off. Were you alive during Britpop? Why would someone go out and buy this best of if they already have all the albums? i'm not.

I wouldnt panic about STC in the US. The only people that really knew it was even coming out here were hardcore fans with all the material already. I know I dont run out and buy greatest hits albums from a band I hardly know right when they come out.

So - correct me if I am wrong - they did their biggest tour in America after DBTT and all the gigs were mostly sold out. And the people that came to see them were mainly the hardcore fans or music diggers?
They must have been bigger in overall public back in nineties and of course hits and record sales and among the regular people. but they didnt really get to do a tour back then...
So Morning Glory would have been the most succesfull oasis america tour if they had not fucked it up.
Is this right?

The Internet was in its beginning phases during the Morning Glory days ......

There are many and varied reasons for Oasis not being as popular now in the U.S & other parts of the world then they were 10 years ago and I think most people here have touched on just about all these points.
One of the biggest is promotion. The marketing and promotion of Oasis is very poor , very little and in some cases very late. In comparison with a lot of the Rap , Pop and Emo artists/bands that are invading the airwaves today Oasis hardly get many plays on commercial radio and T.V. music shows.
In the U.K. it's a completely different picture. Japan and some parts of Europe are also big markets for Oasis but the U.K. remains their biggest market by far.
The other thing is why would you buy an album where you , as a true Oasis fan , have all those songs anyway?. I've got all their albums , including MP & FTM plus many of their singles so I saw no point in buying STC. There may be an EP with a couple of new songs(??) & a DVD included but so what , those will probably surface on the net sometime if they haven't done so already. I'm also not so sure that Noel was very keen on having a Greatest Hits album come out - usually these releases are reserved for "Has Beens" who are trying to make a quick bob or two and by the looks of it Oasis are far from being over. I think this could've been Sony up to their old tricks again , who knows??
In regards to their music I think that DBTT was their best release in years , it should've been the album that brought them back onto the worldwide charts in a BIG way. If LTBL had been promoted properly with a great video to back it up I think this song could've been their "Imagine". It had the potential to be a monster hit and probably go No. 1 in the States but it was given the marketing and promotion that it deserved.

In my opinion, after reading "Dirty little secrets of the record industry" (look it up, amazing enlightening book) the only reason oasis's albums are not getting in the top ten when they should be is promotion. Sony obviously didnt do much by way of forcing the radio stations to play lyla, because pretty much the only way a song gets on the radio is not requests, but it is the record company lobbying for play time (or paying for it) and sony could give a shit about oasis. If they sign with a record company that will promote the hell out of them and force stations to play them, they will easily crack the top ten with their next album or whatever release. DBTT made it pretty high and i think i only heard lyla on the radion 4 times, and one time was a 3 in the morning.

Wasnt too thrilled about the splitting of the tracks into 2 CD's (quality purposes I suppose) but the DVD is worth the money. DEFINITELY enjoyed the interview part.

Liam's mentioned in a few interviews that he's always the 1 who's up for doing more tour dates and Noel is more lax about it. A mini tour for the greatest hits album would have been sweet...but then again, Im just greedy.
