Oasis at Festival Hall last year was one of the loudest gigs I've ever been to. No quiet/loud dynamics (a la The Stripes), rather a tsuami of noise. Massive. Ears were ringing for days! Only bands I've heard that were louder were The Vines (actually painfully so) and The Who (crisp loudness).
How do Oasis rate in terms of noisiness at gigs? Anyone you've heard that is markedly louder?

I went to both the Festival Hall Gigs and it was pretty loud up front. Other than that, Radiohead and most other "rock" bands were just as loud from my experience.

I thought MSG 2005 Jet was louder but the other gigs were fine.

At ACL jet sounded louder than oasis, here in mexico they sounded alright, leaving just a few sound problems aside. Travis is the loudest band I've ever seen believe it or not

Oasis in Heineken Music Hall, Holland wasn't that loud. The volume was to low fo my taste, you can easily speak to eachother.

Foo Fighters are extremely loud at the Reading Festival last year. Dave Groehl upped the volume because one of the tents nearby was playing dance music so he tried to drown them out!! ;D

I saw Oasis at Wembley Arena on the BHN tour in 97. It was UNBELIEVABLY loud. Every time Whitey hit the bass drum your fucking head nearly fell off. I've seen them a few times since (Wembley Stadium at the FTM gig for example, Finsbury Park, V Festival) and they've never been as loud. If you read Paulo Hewitt's 'Forever The People' book about the BHN tour, at one point Marcus Russell starts bollocking the sound man because the gigs are too loud and people are in actual pain! I can personally testify that that BHN gig was really, REALLY loud. I loved it though

I think they were louder in the early days. Also depends what venue you are in.
First time I saw them in '94, they were so loud man, that wall of sound that Bonehead and Guigs used to generate isnt really there anymore.

Oasis in Heineken Music Hall, Holland wasn't that loud. The volume was to low fo my taste, you can easily speak to eachother. That would be awful. I love coming away from a gig and your ears are fizzing and you can't speak cos your hoarse with singing and shouting to your mates and your sweating and thirsty and then you get cramp in your legs/feet on the journey home. ;D Yep, I'd go for the WALLOFSOUND everytime.

get it right, I live in Columbia, MD.
as far as loudness goes, Jet were louder at both Philly and Columbia, but it doesn't really matter. Oasis were louder at Columbia than Philly but merriweather is a phone booth compared to the festival pier.

That's right it matters to the Maryland blokes
When I left philly I couldn't hear a thing of course that could have been from the fight for Liam's Tambourine, I got socked in the ears. I do remember JET being louder though

I hate to hijack things, but I never noticed all you guys live in Columbia. I lived there, too - Dorsey Hall. Centennial High Class of 1992. How a Canadian like me grew up in Columbia, MD and then ended up on the other side of the world is another story, however. Anyway, Oasis, cheers~!
