a question for the american oasis fans here. i was just wondering on the next US tour (whenever that may be) what types of gigs would you think oasis could sellout and play. i mean they played madison square garden and the hollywood bowl this tour, so does that mean they could play maybe the staples center, palace of auburn hills ect?

I'd like it if they played First Meriner Arena just to be close. I definitely think they could sell out any arena in a major city.

They need to come to Florida. They played twice on the Heathen Tour and totally skipped this time.
I think a lot of people are going to the gigs simply as reminiscent of the Morning Glory days but that's ok.
They could easily sell a lot of tickets in Tampa or Orlando along w/ S. florida.

A major city (i.e NY, Chicago, LA) they could sell out the larger arena. I also think what helped them sell out MSG was the strength of Lyla. Thus, if the first single of the next album is just as strong, it only helps their cause. This "second leg" of the tour was somewhat safe, playing to less than 20,000-25,000 seat venues. As someone who has been fortunate to see them in Dublin and Wembley, I can honestly say Oasis is a tailor-made stadium band. However, American fans will probably never get to experience this as they cannot sell out the major arenas a la U2. My brother, who was with me at MSG last year, went to see them in Indianapolis and was disappointed. In my opinion, this tour was too long as the feeds I downloaded from the second leg US tour were nowhere near the quality of MSG. Hopefully the next tour will be shorter with more US dates (especially NY!!!). Something to ponder...imagine if the Roses ever reformed and toured with Oasis???

in 2005 Oasis sold 152,00 tickets for their american tour (not including festivals).
that averages to about 8,500tickets per gig.

Less Shows
Bigger Capacity
Better gigs.
One day Shea Stadium.

First off, there's NO WAY Oasis will play at Shea.
Secondly, I like smaller gigs, which are more intimate. I know Europeans like the huge gigs where it's just a roar and a brewing pot of energy and agression in the venue, but I like to hear the music, hear the band, see the band, and feel like they're playing music for me. If I want a to get punched and have beer thrown on me I'll go to a soccer riot.

There is no way Oasis can sell out Shea by themselves. If they had a good core of support groups maybe...maybe. I am sure they have thought of it in the past, if only to follow in the Beatles lore. I just think Shea is too big of a venue for them to sell out. I hope they play MSG again on the next tour.

Greenday did a big one off show at milton keynes last year to 60,000 people. I know america alot bigger than england and all that, im sure if they really really wanted to they could do one big show in america or canada. It seems oasis have a really big following there.

how big is the shea stadium? Seat capacity of 55,601 This doesn't include people they could fit on the field

At any rate The Tweeter Center (Boston) should be a LOCK for the next tour... back in June the place was PACKED, and everyone was MADFERIT... the lads were also into it, you could tell by the way they played to the crowd... I remember when they were taking their last bow before walking off of the stage, the look on Andy's face... he almost looked embarrased from the ovation they were getting, the look on his face "we don't deserve all THIS..." Plus the fact that Liam and Noel LOVE beantown, given the huge Irish population... Oh yeah. They'll be back here. We'll be waiting for you lads

Boston is a great town and seeing them there would be incredible. I will go to Manchester on the next tour; I've already seen them at Wembley.

oasis could play a massive show like the shea stadium and they would sell it out but like stated they need a really strong single and there next record label needs to be good cos oasis could be the biggest band in the world again with the right people steering the ship.the show at the minute would have to be a one off or they should pllay msg maybe 3 or 4 nights ,that would really up their profile with massive gigs

But let's be realistic here. U2 could sell out Shea; the Stones HAVE sold out Shea. Oasis just do not have the power to sell out Shea by themselves. They are whats come to be known as a "cult band" here in the US. Selling out MSG was great; Shea is four times the size of MSG. They couldn't even muster more than 2000 people at Across the Narrows (I plan on going to at least 5 shows next tour to wipe clear the stain of that debacle). I like Oasis for who they are now. They don't have to be the biggest band in the world. Look at Bono; the guy cannot even get out of the way of his own ego. Instead of listening to some idiot in shades preaching about Third World Debt, I'd rather listen to Liam and Noel rip on Man U fans.

Again, cannot gauge their Canadian appeal as I am from NY, but 20, 000 seats and 70,000 seats are night and day. Oasis cannot fill European sized venues (a la stadiums) here in the US.

Thus, if the first single of the next album is just as strong, it only helps their cause. They sold out MSG because: A. They have never played MSG. Such a major venue attracted casual fans in droves to see em in such a historic arena. Older and more hardcore fans travelled from all over the world for the same reason I believe. B. The ticket prices weren't as bad compared to say a Paul McCartney or Madonna gig at MSG. Lyla wasn't even a hit in the U.S so I disagree with you on that. I never even saw the video on TV...my sis saw it ONCE on FUSE and that was it. Barely no radio airplay either in NYC. The album debuted at #12 on Billboard's Top 100 albums and never went higher. OASIS has turned into one of those marquee bands that promoters know will sell out venues no matter how badly an album does. It's not such a bad place to be if u ask me.

The best gig I went to this past tour was the House of Blues gig in New Jersey. Smaller venue and Liam just looked like he was enjoying himself alot. Don't get me wrong though about the MSG show...I thought it was phenomenal but its much different experiencing a band live when even if yer all the way in back, you still feel like the band is only a few feet away. I was front row right by the baricade @ MSG (infront of Gem & Andy) and the stage was so huge that Liam & Noel felt like a mile away from me.
