Im an old geezer (40s) and grew up on sex pistols, clash, ramones etc. kinda missed the whole Oasis thing except for hearing them on radio
anyway my 13 yo son wants to see jet at Merriweather, he is playing guitar and Jet stuff is pretty easy to do. we know the oasis tunes that are on radio (wonderwall, etc) but neither one of us is familiar with Oasis
the show is sold out so i say lets just show up (i live 5 min from the venue) and see if we can tickets
we end up getting tickets from 2 guys who have seats right next to the stage (thanks guys!!!). we are located about 20 rows up to the left good seats
anyway jet comes on. I think they sucked loud for the sake of being loud and the singer screams doesnt sing...
Oasis - we were both blown away, i didnt know but 2 or 3 songs but I immediately liked about 75% (its now up to 100% after listening to the bootlegs). my son really really liked the close up of Noels guitar fingering on the monitors it really inspired him
rather then playing baseball together we now are learning DLBIA and Layla on our guitars!!!!

cheers sir ! I WAS at the jet/oasis gig at merriweather too. I live in suburban DC. Had a RIPPIN' Time myself ! Let me say 1st off you were very lucky to see this show ! Liam and Noel were in top form for a USA gig (i.e. Liam dancing with kasabian dude ! Noel giving us the 2 thumbs up !) This was a better show than the NYC madison square garden gig  ~ now your son obviously has great musical taste ! period. yes, and noel and liam have already tapped into the "next generation !" I am thrilled for us all ! My daughter is 6 and also a huge fan ! hell yes ! ~ and as a long time fellow "yank fan" let me just say welcome to our "church of oasis !" mad ferrit ! |

Excellent stuff, but perhaps I could recommend also learning Lyla. It's a bit easier than that Eric Clapton number. ;-)

that's a great story. that shows how Oasis are the real deal and I'm also happy to know that some people still have great taste in music with all the junk that's out there these days.

i liked get born alot but after seeing jet a few times b4 oasis this tour, they really suck live, Bottom line, anytime oasis shows up, they are going to fucking rock, i cant wait for them to come back to the states, i will be there again.

I was also at this show. It was not only the first time I saw Oasis Live, but my first concert ever. I went with my girlfriend. I loved Oasis before going to the concert, but now, I am beyond obsessed with them. Simply amazing, the best band in the world. Every song is unique and amazing. Anyone remember when they opened with "Turn Up The Sun" and the stagecrew had the music playing way too quiet and Noel flipped out on them in between a chorus, and it got a good laugh. Also he kept playing with that tamberene, and how it's shape could go on Liam's head or something. Anyone remember that?
