Nice song but would have been so much better sang by Liam ... but i think we're far from " whatever " league !

It's all right, although am not too keen of Oasis using "fuck" in the lyrics for their songs.

WOW.
BRILLIANT.

BUT... The only scary thing is, take the "Lost behind the silver screen are all the things you could have been to us"... and replace it with "thank you for your smile, you make it all worthwile to us"... AND IT FITS PERFECTLY

I didn't expect oasis fans to be like that, I wonder if you think its also better that fuck will be bleeped when the song is on telly or radio.. And am I the only one who thinks this song sounds like it's written by coldplay? I agree with the people that think liam should've done the vocals, it would have been more edgy...and fore some reason I have to say that I don't like it

So beautiful song..and those strings also. Classic. Of course it would be great to hear Liam singing it also, and decide then could it be even better than this version

this song is fuckin amazing!!!
im annoyed bc Oasis have made poor moves: Masterplan b-sides, whatever, and now this all deserve to be on an actual album...pisses me off...think how much bigger they would be!!
this song could easily replace A Bell Will Ring and even Let There Be Love...
They should release this as the next single...so good, and for the ppl who say it doesnt sound like Oasis...i disagree...this is typical mellow Oasis...its an anthem, its an epic!!!

I just can't see why Oasis are suddenly using the word "fuck" in their lyrics when they never have before. I've always associated this with American bands who just use it for "shock factor". It just shows how they can't think of any better lyrics so they have to resort to using "fuck". Especially since the film has a "PG" rating, I fail to see how the main song used in it can have the word "fuck" in it. It goes against the logic of the censors. There you go, n00bs. How's that for a response? I can't wait for you mindless Americans to respond with such gems as "fuck you, buddy" and "dude, get fucked", only with worse grammar than I've used in my examples...

I have to say i kinda have a shared opinion of the use of 'fuck'
i'm not against swearing, if anything i swear too much but my 7 year old brother listens to Oasis and i woudn't want him to hear that song now because it swears.
It's not necessarily a problem for me but it limits the TV play and stuff and it will be bleeped (and we all know how much that annoys people).
Great song otherwise

Funny reading these hot take comments almost 18 years later. It’s just an ok song. Always just that.

^ This kind of thinking infects people's comments on forums like this all the time though. And some people seem to continually want to rake over endlessly exactly the same alternate track list possibilities. You know the thread , and comments:
"Noel should have put Acquiesce / Masterplan / pass me down the wine [insert your favourite here] on the final running order. "
Maybe you can make a case for a couple of these, but I just don't think something like adding Boy with the blues would have made DOYS appreciably stronger.
This song from the thread title isn't necessarily better than most of the songs on DBTT, and if Noel had already decided on a quota of rock ballads it would have meant substituting it for a peppier rock song, and it's very important there is a decent mix of the two genres (rockers and ballads) to balance Oasis CDs out.
Also the fact these are lesser heard tunes, this one is never played on the radio, means they largely go unheralded, people seem to convince themselves the tunes are lost classics which deserve inordinate amounts of praise they really don't merit.
I think WPTWOTWOMS, and Boy with blues are similar, they had time taken over their arrangement but don't feel finished to me. Both song's refrains aren't so memorable and so neither adds up to a satisfying whole. Both are good not great, perfect for Bside material.

Both song's refrains aren't so memorable and so neither adds up to a satisfying whole. Both are good not great, perfect for Bside material. I agree, I don’t think any of these songs would make the latter Oasis albums substantially better, only marginally if they are replacing the truly god awful songs. Similar argument to having Record Machine or Stop The Clocks on DBTT or DOYS. They’re all decent songs, but they wouldn’t transform the albums. They’d need truly great songs and Oasis didn’t have them back then. I do think going into the unchartered territory of experimenting would have given great songs around this time, something akin to the David Holmes approach of building a song from the ground up, making it multi-textured and cinematic and then adding vocal melody on top. I don’t think it would sound like Who Built The Moon but it’s an approach that would have conjured up interesting results for Oasis. The novelty in seeking new sounds is what inspires great music, not relying on the complacency of tried and tested methods. Noel’s songwriting was still capable of greatness but complacency around the mid 2000s just left fans with an attitude of ‘meh, good enough’.

When Noel was throwing away his average songs, now he makes them lead singles
It's ok, but the sound and structure always bothered me. Too pop.

Would definitely have been better than a lot of the songs on DBTT.
Have Liam sing this and get rid of Love Like a Bomb and we’ve improved the album straight away.
Liam sing Record Machine and Stop the Clocks in place of A Bell Will Ring and Keep the Dream Alive… Liam sung Lord Don’t Slow Me Down instead of Guess God Thinks I’M Abel…
Damn this album could have been great.

I love it. It's one of those rare Oasis songs that I have not overplayed so they lose a bit of meaning. It's a good song that should have been on an album.
