A pretty solid gig. Got my tickets back in November and was a bit dissapointed when they announced the support acts a few weeks ago. I'm a big fan of The Coral and Sundays lineup looked much better. Although the announcement a few days ago of Babyshambles being dropped and replaced by The Zutons more than made up for it.
We left our house in MK about 3.30 and took a slow walk down past the train station which already had hundreds of Oasis fans piling out. Popped into a shop on the way to the venue to pick up some refreshment for the gig. Someone in the shop said the support acts had already started playing. We got to the gates about 5.00 & had some of our drinks binned as the seals were broken. Me and my mate walked straight through but my brother got stopped and searched we thought was quite funny as he's just a skinny little runt. The Bowl was already quite full. We tried to find a decent spot up on one of the sides of the hills but there wasn't much space so we went down into the bowl itself and finally settled on a decent viewing point about halfway to the front just next to the left hand speaker pyramid. The 22-20's were already halfway through their set and were pretty solid. Some really good tunes. The sun was blazing down on us though so we were drinking loads of water. Bear in mind we got there at 5.00 and when i purchased the tickets i was told Oasis would be on about 8.00 so 3 hours wait ahead. The Redwalls came on about 6.00 and played for 30 mins. Wasn't too impressed with them. They were a good tight band but not really my taste. Had a conversation with one of the stewards who was guarding the bottom of the speaker pyramid to prevent climbers and he said Oasis wouldn't be on till 8.30. A beachball had started to be thrown around the crowd and everyone was starting to have a laugh. A football appeared and was being booted up in the air to different areas of the crowd. Several people were hit unawares and at one point there were up to 5 footballs flying around so you had to be wary of where they were just in case they were heading for your head. The Zutons came on at 7.00 and were excellent. They played for almost an hour. Obviously big Liverpool fans they dedicated Confusion to AC Milan. Glad to say they played Remember Me which is my fave of their tracks. The girl who plays the sax can have my babies anytime. I think it was during their set that someone managed to jump a barrier and climp up the speaker pyramid on the right hand side. We just heard loads of cheering and then you could see him climbing up. The crowd gave The Zutons a great ovation and we thought we were half hour away from Oasis. There was a load of intro music played followed by the Live8 add with loads of rock stars and Noel (who got a massive cheer) starring. In the end they didn't get on stage till 9.00 but it was worth the wait. Fuckin' In The Bushes announced the arrival of the bandmembers. Liam arrived on stage in a black pinstripe suit matched with a white beeny hat (something only he could have gotten away with!). And they kicked off with Turn Up The Sun. The sound seemed to be a bit off at first, the vocals were really quiet. Through most of the first few songs Liam seemed to be saying things to the sound booth to sort the sound out. It improved more and more as the gig went on though. Standout moment for me had to be when Liam dedicated Live Forever "to those people in London". At some points the crowd singing was louder than Liam during that. Some great banter between songs. Most notably Noel dedicating The Importance Of Being Idle to Babyshambles. Also Noel singling out someone in a Tottenham shirt and slating him for "having the audacity to stand there in a Spurs shirt!" to which sections of the crowd started chanting "Yiddo". Noel proclaiming "This is the middle of fucking nowhere, do any of you know where you are?". And Liam returning after some Noel sung songs. Noel "Shall we try a bit of pantomine, he's behind you...oh no he isn't!" LOL I'll try and write a setlist but i might miss a few songs, they lasted for about an hour and a half so finshed about 10.30 although we didn't get home till just befor midnight. A really great day. Anyway this is what i could remember them playing:
Turn Up The Sun Lyla Bring It On Down Morning Glory Cigarettes and Alcohol The Importance Of Being Idle Little By Little Songbird A Bell Will Ring Live Forever Champagne Supernova Rock n Roll Star
Encore Guess God ThinksI'm Abel Meaning Of Soul Don't Look Back In Anger My Generation

Was a great gig last night, my first Oasis gig was feeling a bit ill all day after drinking too much Friday night, got there about 6:30 in time for The Zutons and they were ace, better than Babyshambles would have been. Started to feel better when Oasis came on had a decent view of the stage i was to the right as you look at it so it wernt bad.
Fully enjoyed it though, the venue was great imo only bad thing and ill use Noel's words "Its in the middle of fucking nowhere". ;D

;DNot sure if you noticed it from your side but someone else got up on the other speaker pyramid when it was getting dark. Must have been pretty fast to get over the barrier and then start scaling the scaffolding. There was 4 stewards at the bottom and none of them saw him till he was halfway up. Think he went up there just after the encore started. I said to my mates he won't be down now until all the songs have finished. He started to climb down just as Don't Look Back In Anger finished but as he did Liam says right this is the last one now and he climbed back on top til My Generation was over.

Well they were filming for it to be shown on the big screens so i'd have thought they'd record just in case they wanted to use the film in future. Whether it be as a complete gig or for use as clips for other promos.

Oh ok, we didn't get there till 5pm and as the 22-20's were on, i assumed that the next band was The Redwalls. I didn't know there was another band on before 22-20's. Didn't think much of The Secret Machines then!

Loved the Redwalls and the Zutons, wasn't fussed about the other two. Dedicating Mucky Fingers to the guy in the Spurrs shirt was class.
Was really surprised to find out which new songs everybody knew and which ones they didn't...Turn Up the Sun, Lyla, and Idle all rocked the house, but hardly anyone knew ABWR, MOS, MF, or GGTIA.
I live 20 minutes by car from MK. We got home (after leaving straight from the bowl) at 3:15am. We didn't drive, took the train in and then intended to get a taxi back. Big mistake.

I know what you mean. I had some spare tickets and sold them to a girl at work who gives me a lift. She said she was a big Oasis fan. I didn't manage to see her at the gig but spoke to her yesterday when we were going home and asked her what she thought. Imagine my surprise when she said she was dissapointed because they played too many songs that she didn't know. She hasn't got the new album and so only knew Lyla as it was the single release. From talking to her it seems she only knows most of the songs from DM and (WTS)MG plus the few singles from Be Here Now. The fact there has been 2 other albums between BHN and DBTT seems to have completely passed her by. And she wanted them to play She's Electric. How anyone could be dissapointed with that gig i don't know.

Fuck all that for a game of soldiers. i went the gig on Saturday, stayed in the car overnight. I parked up on a nice little estate 5 mins walk away but with good access to the main road. they shut the roads off around 12 noon, but as i walked on through the cordon they must have thought i was a 'ressie'. So yeah, parked up nice and early and I was in the quewe for Sundays gig before 9 am. It was a good experience and one i would do again!! Quality gigs!!

Saturday the 9th was probably the best night ever absolutely wicked, Apart form the obvious beer probs and a couple of idiots it was sound. Oasis music wise=Brilliant, Probably one of there best. Oasis Interaction wise= Again Brilliant. Support= Zutons were sound, the rest couldn't really tell? We were stood to the left of the central construction, anyone else around there i may have met?. And afterwards back at the digs was just a great end to a great night, can't say to much though doggboy

Was on the left hand side but not that far forward. You probably mean the sound engineering scaffolding when you talk about the big central construction? Me and my mates were a bit further back alongside the left hand speaker pyramid.
