I am at work right now and my girlfriend called me to tell me that "Let There Be Love" was just played on the radio in St. Paul. I am not sure what sation she was listening to but I would guess it is a station in the 105's (they play good music like Oasis, Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol, The Killers, etc). Pretty cool they would play a song that wasn't an officially released single from the new album.

It is an officially released song, it's the new US radio single.

Huh? Ok, so I am a little off base. I heard that LTBL was supposed to be the US single but I didn't see it posted anywhere officially besides rumors on the forum. Great song either way.
Also, I just heard a Coors (beer) commercial on the radio and Lyla was being played in the background. Sony also had something to do with the commercial too.

Also, it should be added that it's going for play on AAA radio, rather than modern rock/alternative. This is a big difference in target audiences. That's more the Coldplay/"Look What You've Done" crowd.

Won't be a single, just radio airplay. They'll need a video for it first to truly get it going, but who knows, maybe they shot one already?

Just wanted to clarify a few things for those of you on the other side of the pond.
As far as I know, Let There Be Love is the US single officially - does that mean there will be a "single" disc released here? No. Why? Because there really isn't a single market in the US anymore. Very very few songs get released to purchase, unless you count iTunes, etc. So, "single" here primarily means "radio single" anymore.
I'm not sure what the history is of why the single market stopped here - anyone know?

basically, people stopped buying singles so they stopped releasing them, except for like a dozen rap songs at any given time, plus coldplay ballads. cd singles were never really a huge commodity in the US, though they were far more prevalent in the early to mid-90s. and now they've slowly but steadily dissipated into thin air. so, yes, for those of you who might not know, and to reiterate, cd singles in the US are almost exclusively just advertisements for full cds (and/or tours) as heard on the radio. (though sometimes when a label realizes they have a huge hit they will go ahead and release the song as a cd single to wring all the cash they can get from it.) ok then cheers everybottie

It's because of the greedy record companies... they want you to spend $18.99 on an entire album to get only one or two songs you really want... that's why everyone downloads their music now, it backfired on them...

It's no different than Champagne Supernova. It wasn't a technical single, but it got radio and video play. Hopefully there'll be a video for LTBL soon for it to get the popularity it deserves.
