It seems I experienced the Philly show different than most!
First of all, In my opinion, seeing the band outside... in great weather and interesting surroundings... and MOST importantly with 5,000 people compared to the 18,000 at MSG is way different & for me way better. I had a good, pretty close view at MSG, and I thought Noel was pretty reserved, and Liam was his usual self with minimal interaction. I thought the sound was good at MAG, BUT with a major problem. The solo's were way to low & not powerful enough, and It seemed that there was a lot of talk bewteen Liam and his sound guys. Liam sounded great, but Noel's guiatar was definitely too low. A problem not uncommon from other bands as well. At the Philly show Liam & especially Noel were way more interactive with the crowd, and seemed looser & having more fun. With such a small crowd & venue this interaction made a big difference in experiencing the show. I know everyone is different & each venue has pros & cons, but for my money.... I'll take this size outdoor venue over all the others, but for a small club show. The stage had no background behind the band so it was pretty cool to see the effect that created. I thought the sound was just as good as the MSG show, and I'm pretty sure they slightly changed the order of the set by a couple of songs, maybe to see if a different order would be a better flow for the show, so I would be interested to see compared set lists from previous shows. At the MSG show I felt that the old songs were done so precise that they lacked some kind of spontaneity or 'newness'. At this Philly show Liam definitely added a word or phrase here and there that added just a touch of being not so sterile. I also thought the new songs sounded a touch more stronger as well... They haven't played them that long I can't wait for Sept. when they are more weathered. I really like the new stuff. Then It HAPPENDED.... the one thing that was the same for both MSG & Philly changed, and made this show without a doubt in my mind significantly better than MSG and significantly better than the first half of this show.... Half way through Champagne Supernova, the volume of the whole sound system went up notches. Finally, it was freakin' awesome- full Oasis glory, and Noel's solos were heard the way they should be... I asked my sister at that point and she agreed it suddenly got louder, I don't know how many other people noticed, but I'd like to hear from them. It was only the last five or six songs or so, but it was glorious. It was worh the price and that alone made the show better than MSG- I am praying they will turn it up from the get go from now on- and the shows with that type of volume are in my mind better than than the others. I don't know what the deal was, maybe a sound guy tripped on a cable! I feel luck to have seen them twice in afew days, but I feel even luckier to have seen them in a more intimate place like Philly, on a grand night in June. Peace Everyone, Bret

For the most part, I agree with you moksha. I was lucky to attend both MSG and Philly with incredible views each time. I am still leaning towards MSG as being the better of the two, but Philly can not be considered bad. From where I was, everyone was singing the songs: the classics, the new ones and even the "lesser-known" ones (not to us of course ) . It was a different atmosphere than MSG and Noel and Liam seemed to interact a bit more with the crowd in Philly. At the end of the day, it was still Oasis, it was under the stars, and it was good.

There's a difference between the interaction they had with the Philly and MSG crowd...Liam and Noel were more nicer (comments wise) with the New Yorkers...They were more pissy with the Philly crowd I think...With Liam saying something about him seeing only 2 fans there and Noel saying something about this 'pregnant bird' upfront not singing along...(what were his exact words???).

I'll admit that undoubtedly the number one quote of the night from the Philly show was "I can't wait till they play Wonderwall" - but I went into the show not expecting much from the fans, considering I've lived here my whole life and could count the Oasis fans I know on one hand. Since this was my first Oasis show, I was going to be satisfied even if they came out onstage sat down and started reading the paper, but luckily not only did they play their instruments, I thought every song was fuckin spot on, and Liam was great, balancing the tambourine on his head and coming up with a few memorable quotes ("This one's for Joe Frazier," changing the lyrics of Bring it on Down to "but you don't care, cause you're smokin' crack," and "this one is definitely the last one cause I'm gonna go get fuckin WANKER'D") All in all I had a fuckin blast, and my only complaint would be that their set list could stand to be alot more creative, even though I went into the show knowing exactly what they would play.
I think someone mentioned earlier that Songbird was edited, and I agree, it did seem oddly short, but I'm not sure of the reason for that. Someone also mentioned that Liam and Noel were criticizing the crowd for being dead, but I didn't hear that, although I couldn't make out alot of what they said for that matter.

I was starting to think I was going crazy coz Song Bird seemed shorter. My sis and I are pretty good at deciphering Liam and Noel's Manc accent...After 11 years of this and almost learning every word of Wibbling Rivalry...u tend to be proficient.

The PA for Oasis was way too low at both shows, which was atrocious. I got to watch from the stands sine a friend of mine had a walker. Sadly, I was the only one standing up in the section so I felt like a bit of a shmuck. But the sound levels were terrible. For Nick Armonstrong and the Thieves you could feel the bass, not even close for Oasis. It took a lot of the feeling out of it. The performance was great, but the crowd was terrible. I was worried they wouldn't even come out for an encore because the crowd was completely incapable of clapping either together or loudly. The comment Liam made was "Nice to see we've got 2 real fans here" towards some people in the front row. Noel was referring to the noise some girl was making and how she sounded like a "pregnant bird". Great show, terrible crowd. I'd rate MSG higher just based on the feeling between the band and the crowd.
