Well the beatles matured, but their songwriting quality remained at a high level. Regardless of how much oasis have matured, live forever and supersonic are still five times better than anything on dbtt

DBTT is far and away their best album. I can understand fans who prefer their earlier material but I think they've outgrown that 'stadium punk' style. Sure they're great songs , classics even but the songwriting , variety , sounds , production and playing on DBTT is far superior. DBTT is a classic and it'll go down as one of the best albums of 2005 and maybe the decade!! I completely agree Nazz. The very first time I heard the album the day after the entire thing leaked, Ive been burning copies left and right for everyone. I was that proud of it! Couldn't say the same thing about BHN and SOTSOG. For those of u who keep on comparing it to DM and WTSMG, u are fookin nuts! We're talking about 11 years here of fame, money, and life experiences. A 27 year old Noel Gallagher can't possibly write the same songs he wrote when he was young and hungry compared to the Noel who owns Rolls Royce cars now. Their sound now is more mature because they have matured. If u truly love the band then you would understand that their music also have to evolve. Like it or not, every band goes through this metamorphosis. Compare The Beatles' Rubber Soul to Abbey Road...2 completely different sounds from the same band. Expecting Oasis to churn out songs now akin to DM is like asking for them to regress into the past. I think I would laugh if I heard Noel or Liam try to re-create another Cigs & Alc single in 2005. It just doesn't fit. I agree with you totally QueenOasis. What you said reminded me of a recent review on i read on the net about DBTT which got it spot on, in my opinion. It said "Once you realise that Oasis will never ever be able to come up with albums like Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory then you can really enjoy Don't Believe The Truth." Which is the exact truth. DM and MG weren't just a success because of the songs on both albums but because of the time they were released in and the way the world was then. Since then music, the world and Oasis have moved on so can we just stop harping on about how Oasis latest release "is good, but not as good as there old stuff" because it has got boring now and people just have to...well...believe the truth if i can say that. ;D

You've just been caught up in the wave of thinking that Oasis can't write anymore good tunes. Don't be so critical of their newer stuff...it's not so good to pine for the past...You won't be able to enjoy the future.

Yes I understand that, and actually you´re right (QueenOasis). I know it´s hard to forget the past, but believe me, my mind was blank when I first heard the album... and I just did not like it. Still looking forward to seeing them live in a couple of months. I know thats where I'll be able to shut my friends mouths. So Zak, you better be practising that lame drumming o' yers.

In earlier threads I was having a fine argument with Kalas regarding Oasis never really changing but I have to admit that I was wrong , dead wrong. DBTT is nothing like I expected. This is not the same old Oasis that we all knew & loved. This is a far more refined , mature & "grown - up" album than many of their previous efforts. If you want testosterone filled angst and fury go listen to Greenday or Linkin Park. Oasis have outgrown all that. I agree that many of the songs on the album have been inspired by the greats of the past but what they've done is created something better and outstanding - all the tracks have distinctive melodies that stick in your head. I also take my hat off to Noel for having the balls to write material like MF , TIOBI & POTQ which are so different to anything they've doen before. The key to this album is variety , experimentation (trying different sounds/styles) eg. listen to the intro & outro on TUTS it's unlike anything Oasis have ever tried before. And lastly great songwriting , KTDA is a fantastic tune , when that chorus kicks in the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. LTBL is a CLASSIC by any standards.
To quote a Specials classic: "All u punks & all u Teds , National front & Natty dreads , Mods , rockers , hippies & skinheads keep on fightin' till you're dead"
The rest of us can listen to Oasis in 2005!!

And by the way , who also thinks that Liam is turning into John Lennon? or should I say Is John Lennon? Liam has always tried to look like John Lennon but i don't think you could to more different people lol.

Actually, I think Liam's starting to look more like Ian Brown as he's getting on with age! When I saw the 'Keep What Ya Got' video, I was like "Man...Ian and Liam could pass off more like bros than Noel and Liam".

I was referring more to his songs & singing style than to his look. WLYD which is a B-side on the Lyla single is sooooo.... Lennon & a few of the songs on the album are Lennon/Beatles reincarnated. What was it that Andy Bell said "if you like Revolver you'll like DBTT" , that's about right. One of my friends who is not a massive Oasis fan said that DBTT is what the Beatles would sound like if they were still around. Probably a bit exaggerated but still close.
