I am one of those fans.. Own 3 signed guitars (they are for sale if you want them), dozens of other autographed gear and am just not impressed with the new CD. This is a touch, personal thing, but I just think it is their worst album. For the most part, the songs Liam wrote are painful, but on the flip side, Noel's are terrific. Just my opinion. Z

PM me and let me know what you have in terms of memorabilia. CD and boot wise I don't need much but I'd be curious to hear what you have. Nothing personal but there would be a few hoops to jump through before I bought anything. I spend alot of money on stuff like that and only move forward when I'm satisfied of the authenticity of the item and the moral fibre of the seller. I have ways of doing it though so pm me.

I think this is Oasis at their worst. Most of the songs are not even B-Side material. And there's always something that ruins the good songs, either Zak's lack of talent, or Liam's lack of voice (KTDA = worst vocals ever). In the past years other bands have done a better job doing 'pounding' songs than what Oasis did in this one, so when you hear Lyla or Mucky Fingers you're really not surprised. Throw in a few catchy lines and people will go mad, well that wasn't my case. It really hurts me, I grew up as one of the biggest fans.

I feel that the album is alright, but there are no songs on the album that blow me away...maybe it is because it is their last contracted album and they are waiting to blow people away on the next and just wanted to put out a good album, but not a mind blowing one...the only song I keep replaying is Turn Up The Sun which I think has great potential for a single in the states

The songs on these abmum are very middle of the road - no classics or anthems. The only stand out stracks for me are Turn up The Sun which would be an amazing single, Mucky Fingers, very much a grower, a classic already. A Bell Will Ring is the best song on the album and the closest sounding beatles tune. As for the others - as good as Lyla is, it has no staying power. The Importance Of Being Idle is just abit too simple and poppy. God Guess Thinks im Abel is promising but unfinished. Keep The Dream alive is just horrible. As for Let There Be Love I dont understand all the hype - its stops starts stops and starts again.

The Importance Of Being Idle is the best thing Oasis have done in years, in my opinion.
And without going into too much detail as i'm about to log-out i think the new album is in 3rd place as far as there best albums are concerned. I'm sure everyone has there own opinions and this is just mine. I prefer this to Be Here Now as it has more soul to it and isn't poluted and over produced. It's very understated and only 47 minutes long which is why i think some people don't like it as it doesn't really have a long Champagne Supernova-like anthem or a catchy Wonderwall type song on there.
Actually it could have probably done with Stop The Clocks. ;D

i think it's third best. it is a great collection of songs. whenever i listen to it i dont wanna stop. it reminds me of MG in the sense that if you were to ask 10 people their favorite song from the album , then you'll prolly get around 7 different answers. there's no big stand out coz it's good song after good song. there's no shitty songs to make it shine more. sum ppl hate KTDA while others think it's top notch. and i hate TMOS but some love it. my friend thinks it's great. but not everyone will like everything. so there's my opinion.
- cheers !

Well it's not exactly awful, but it's not top class. I mean I Can See It Now, Part of the Queue, Mucky Fingers and Importance of Being Idle are all great but are all written by Noel. I don't like Liams songs, but I don't think they are too bad. But this album really is their worst, but still not bad. Yes, Oasis has let me down a little bit. Still listen to the old stuff actually. However, I thought I would be disappointed by the new Greenday album and I'm still listening to American Idiot everyday.

BUT, from a female point of view, Liam's songs blew me away straight off ! they are so direct and powerful ! They are hot ! and also beautiful... i.e. GGTIA.. Fuck ! Like noel said, something to this affect, when Liam writes a song, he wants you to fall over on the ground, then get back up gasp for air and then stab yerself and DIE ! HIS HAS SONIC ABILITIES ! Just my 2 cents. be well, Tam

DBTT is far and away their best album. I can understand fans who prefer their earlier material but I think they've outgrown that 'stadium punk' style. Sure they're great songs , classics even but the songwriting , variety , sounds , production and playing on DBTT is far superior. DBTT is a classic and it'll go down as one of the best albums of 2005 and maybe the decade!!

Coldplay's is not a good album as well. So i'm not surprised by any album that's better than Coldplay's latest.

Let's consider Noel Gallagher's songwriting output
Noel wrote 5 songs for the album, which is low output to begin with, but gets even less impressive when looked at closely. Of his songs, MF and POTQ are really blatant (even for him) rip off of other songs (I'm waiting for the man, golden brown, respectively), the verses of Lyla are blatant (even for him) rip offs of Street Fighting Man, and Let there Be Love was written over 5 years ago. So, basically, Noel only sat down and wrote one new, lawsuit-less song for this album, which to me, is pretty disappointing considering he's my favorite songwriter of all time (and I do really like TIOBI). I thought we'd at least have seen a b-side from him by this point, since there was a time when there would be three songs of his on every single, but apparently not. At least for Heathen Chemistry we were treated to Idler's Dream and Shout it Out Loud. Why has he gotten so lazy?

Don't forget 'Sitting here in silence (on my own)', although some people say that's also a blatant rip off. ;D

Just my 2 cents. be well, Tam Well Liam sure hasn't got me with his songwriting, and surely not with his singing. I loved his singing 'till Standing on the Shoulders came out. But do you mean the lyrics or the music affects females in particular? Let's consider Noel Gallagher's songwriting output Noel wrote 5 songs for the album, which is low output to begin with, but gets even less impressive when looked at closely. There is a saying in Dutch which says: "Better ripped off well than awfully created," which suits this situation perfectly. Noel has always ripped good. And Liam has, in my point of view, never did any better than awfully creating songs.

The very first time I heard the album the day after the entire thing leaked, Ive been burning copies left and right for everyone. I was that proud of it! Couldn't say the same thing about BHN and SOTSOG. For those of u who keep on comparing it to DM and WTSMG, u are fookin nuts! We're talking about 11 years here of fame, money, and life experiences. A 27 year old Noel Gallagher can't possibly write the same songs he wrote when he was young and hungry compared to the Noel who owns Rolls Royce cars now. Their sound now is more mature because they have matured. If u truly love the band then you would understand that their music also have to evolve. Like it or not, every band goes through this metamorphosis. Compare The Beatles' Rubber Soul to Abbey Road...2 completely different sounds from the same band. Expecting Oasis to churn out songs now akin to DM is like asking for them to regress into the past. I think I would laugh if I heard Noel or Liam try to re-create another Cigs & Alc single in 2005. It just doesn't fit.
