Hi All
First off, I know I'm going to get someone responding to my thread with less than complimentary remarks, so a pre-released "bite me" is issued lol.
Oasis were fantastic at the Tweeter Center last night. Liam's voice was amazing, the band were right on key and I loved every minute of their performance. But to me a gig is about the before, during and after, and as such this was my least enjoyable show of the 5 I've attended.
When I arrived in the parking lot, I truly believed that i'd made a wrong turn into an Abercrombie & Fitch audition. There were some cool people there and some people well into the gig. But jesus, I felt like I was at a gig with 3500 Ashton Kutchers, 2500 Lindsey Lohan's and the rest being pretty cool people. Too many people were fucking fratfuck wonderwaller's who knew two or three morning glory tracks. It was doing my fucking nut in. And as for chicks? Yeah there was alot of cheerleader fucking bimbo's. If that's your bag, fair play, from some of the behavior I seen my greyhound would have scored with a chick if he wanted to (without too much effort).
Then my girl almost started boxing with this ticket tout (which would have been hysterical, she's a feisty character lol) all because he claimed we were trying to upstage him by shouting "tickets, we have 3 tickets" (we had 3 spare). I also offered them up and these two English guys were like "where you from?" when i told them scotland they ripped into me (verbally). If we weren't in the front of a major venue I'm convinced they would have taken it further. Get over it man, there's good lads in Scotland, England too, but then you get these pricks that have this small-mindedness that still seems relevant to them even 3500 miles from home. It goes both ways I know, but it pisses me off 'cos I know most people aren't like that and I hate dealing with it. I'm not Afghani you know what I mean?
The gig was great but so much shit threatened to ruin it all, my chick was on the verge of getting kicked out as she was ready to deck the ticket dude, and then some twat starting riling me up for no reason. We're all there for a gig, we all have a common interest, what's the problem?
So, how did the greatest band in the world escape a large percentage of the musically educated in the US and get left with a bunch of 'let's hang in crowds 'cos we're so insecure without each other' 'in-crowd' 'preppy' fratboy cheerleader tossballs?
Shame man.

I may just be a newbie when it comes to posting -- and may get some shite from that, too -- but I gotta agree with you Sipi Tai on some of this....
Four of us, two of whom were born and raised in England (not me, born in Beantown), showed up early to tailgate, listen to some tunes, and have some drinks, and we were surrounded by fratboys and pre-pubsecent Britneys -- one of which asked my friend, and I quote, "Do you think they'll play Wonderwall and that other big song they had?" At one point, I was talking with one guy about the new album, DM, and the underrated greatness of BHN and he told me, "Oh, they have more than a couple albums?" as if DBTT and WSTMG were it (yeah, a 10 year gap between records....). At one point during the concert, I was standing next to one guy with a cowboy hat and everything telling me how much he hates Oasis but is here cuz all his drinking buddies are.
Yes, I'm disappointed by some of the fan quality, but I didn't let it ruin me and me mates good time. It was a stellar show, that was reviewed very well in the BG this morning (I saw the post here, too).
I guess on one level it comes down to the popularity thing... do we or should we resent those who aren't 'proper', 'true' fans? I may have beefs with some of the reasons some of these fans were here, but I'm proud to see a resurgence of 'popularity' for Oasis here in the States -- like I've seen time and time again reading this board religiously over the past few months. Hell, I'm tired of being made fun of for being of so few people who loves Oasis that much:)
In short, Oasis deserved to sell out Tweeter Center (...no, GREAT WOODS), abercrombie-crowd or not.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH thats hilarious... cowboy hat... but really, every oasis show I've been to is like that, there are the abercrombie people but so what. When I say them in Indianapois a few years back guess where Liam had spent the day shopping?? Abercrombie, and he got on the bus with two huge bag fulls of clothes and came off in Abercrombie pants, sandals and a jacket... I dont have any problem with new people getting to hear them even if they arent "real" fans, maybe they were blown away and bought the album

About the 'fratboy' etc, they're just good shorthand descriptors for setting the scene... they surely work a lot better than saying 'So I was talking with this one girl, who was wearing a tight turquoise t-shirt that said 'Gap 1969' on her chest. She also wore a pair of slightly-faded jeans with a glitter-butterfly design on the upper right thigh and a pair of dark steve madden boots with neon green laces."

Take your points on board my friends. Perhaps it was alot for me to take in because all my previous shows were European ones? Obviously there was gonna be a different feel just not the kind I hoped for. Although, if selling out shows due to these types of people acts as a springboard for the band to a bigger more solid platform here in the states then I would be happy for the band. Next time I know what i'll be in for in terms of US Shows so I'll pay the premium parking for a sharp exit lol As I said there were some cool people, some right into it man, they were just the minority as far as i'm concerned. But the bottom line is, Oasis are pulling off this tour in serious fashion. Tonight in Philly is a home run. In my opinion any issue at all would have come last night, an MSG hangover or something. But it's all good.

You should have stuck the napper on those pricks man. I woulda. ;D Kiddie-on hard men, Oasis seem to attract them.

Hey the person who mentioned the cowboy dude.... was he wearing brown cowboy boots with jeans, a white shirt and cream hat? Older guy? I seen him sitting on a fence in the parking lot after the gig. I was kinda surprised he was there that long, he could just have rode his horse right out man!

hey man dont worry about it. i went to the detroit gig and everyone seemed to know oasis well. i knew like 50 people there!
The truth is Oasis are a preppy band. Im from birmingham Michigan an a little upperclass town just north of Detroit and everyone love oasis, and abercrombie, polo, ect... But they know more than just MG, and DBTT. But a fan is a fan, people come in a different shapes sizes, poor, rich, dumb, smart, cowboys, cityboys ect...

abercrombie <-- lol! i find it amusing that i honestly have no idea what the clothes look like, but still manage to understand the connotation fully cos i have heard it so often in various texts =P
but yeah, quite frankly, i feel its too much to hope that all the people who ever bought oasis albums...and there are millions upon millions of them, all appreciate oasis as much as the people here do. but yeah, their loss. and being protective of the human race as i am (=P) i prefer them going to oasis gigs than going to a britney spears one or something.
although it does seem horribly unfair that some guy who is just going cos his drinking buddies are, and is probably too wasted to realise how fucking lucky he is to be in the presence of oasis - while i dont get to see them, and when i know for a fact that id get more satisfaction, and be entirely ecstatic from seeing my favourite band live. sigh, i suppose thats just the way things are =S

I was kinda surprised he was there that long, he could just have rode his horse right out man! hahaha unfortunately that wasnt the guy I talked with. This dude had a southern accent, wore a black t-shirt that said "You ain't never met a motherf**ker like me" and, while stating how much Oasis sux, professed his love for jam bands like the Dead. Anti-Oasis vibe aside, he was one funny mofo

Just wanted to make sure my comments were mistaken! To lyla --> Yea, it's amazing how you can just say something like 'abercrombie' or 'gap' and there's already like some type of mental image that comes to mind! I too didn't understand the whole 'i hate oasis but am still here cuz it's my buddy' scenario, but yeah, i'd definitely prefer him seeing a kickass rock band (aka, Oasis) than some of the other stuff that's out there. One thing I always notice with ampitheatres is the difference in vibe and fan. I'm mostly one who frequents shows in small clubs or bars (being in the US, I've seen blur and stereophonics in 200-person venues!) and the fans there are the diehards --- you know, the ones who know (or want to know) every little thing about the band, like what in-between snack Noel made himself in his mum's house before he wrote the second verse to Live Forever:) At the ampitheatre shows that I've been to, I see people who just know the 'hits', know the basics (or not even!) about a band, and go there for different reasons. Different venues, different vibes. Not better or worse, good or bad... just different.

i had great seats....section two row three. it was hard to miss me. i was the crazy loud kid that was dancing around the venue with my british flag yelling about how oasis was the best band in the world.
durring rock and roll star i threw my glasses on stage. liam kicked them, noel picked them up and threw them back in the crowd. after the show i begged for my glasses back from her, and she gave them to me. so now i have glasses that are blessed by noel and liam. look for it in the dvd. great show.
when you play massachusetts you are bound to get a large percentage of looser suburban kids. i grew up in the area, and i knew what to expect. but still a good crowd over all.

Shame man. there are so many different tyoes of real, hardcore oasis fans...let's have some understanding, that's what was missing when i was at the philly gig. I was wearing my fraternity letters and somebody told me to fuck off(whiling i was trying to explain the new set list to my friend a more casual fan) and all i said in response was "i'm trying to educate, you can help or be gone" we're all big fans, we're all different, i wouldn't call anybody out who actually spent the bills to go to a gig...it's not worth it to go to a show and hear that trash when you know(when this happened it was 2:30 and there was maybe 100 people in line) that everybody there is a big fan
