its 3:30am right now and im exhausted, i was high out of my mind during the show, but this is exactly how i remember it, in all of it's fucking magnicificent glory.
Jet - First of all, never let these guys near another major rock and roll concert ever. If every member of the who had a lobotomy, Jet wouldve been what they created when they learned how to play their instruments again. That's all on them.
OASIS
Turn up the Sun - "It's been a long fucking time Madison Square Garden but we're finally here!" Liam proclaimed just before the band launched into the intro. Liam is perfect whenever he does this live usually, and tonight was no exception, album quality. The band was perfectly in sync with itself, the lights were awesome, and the sound was great too, this was going to be a fantastic fucking show.
Lyla - Eh, it's lyla, he was shitty on the first verse and then he cleaned it up like he always does
MG - Fuck yes, probably the best song of the night. The lights came up a little bit, glowing orange as the opening riff started and the crowd screamed the lyrics all the way to the end. Liam let the crowd have all the "Wweeeellllsss" like usual and filled in the rest as 40,000 screaming fans chanted along with him.
LLAB - Very well done. The piano part seemed a little bit messy, dont know what that was from but Liam was spot on perfect... again... easily better than the version from detroit or toronto or whatever.
*From this point on im probably going to list songs out of order and forget one or two, and by probably i mean definetely*
BIOD - An excellent stomper, I was suprised how many people knew the words in the crowd. DM wasnt huge in the US, but there were a good number of folks screaming right along with Liam. Once again fantastic
IOBI - I love this song on the album... but it doesnt translate that well live unless it's an acoustic set. Noels voice was fine, but the instrumentation got kind of muddy. Probably the low point of the concert for me
MOS - Filler, but it sounded like it should. Liam delivered again, and screamed the crowd into the song during the chorus, not too many were really feeling the verse unfortunately.
Mucky Fingers - Fucking awesome. Noel was on key, all the instrumentation was tight, and Gem finished it with the harmonica solo sounding just like it should. Definetely one of Noel's better performances of the song period.
ABWR - Some people love the way this sounds live... Im not one of them... It's pretty good during the second verse when zak comes in on the whole set, but the beginning is a little wishy-washy. This time however, the whole song was amazing, Liam didnt miss a note, and all the little guitar riffs really flowed, fantastic.
Live Forever - Another magnificent anthem. From the beginning to the end everyone was screaming the lyrics right along with Liam. It sounded perfect, and Noel's solo was better than usual (he added the little extra bit toward the end like he used to) Definetely one of the better ones.
CS - Good like it always is, Noel or Gem's guitar was up waaayyy too high in the beginning, but the sound guys fixed it. Again, Liam's voice was perfect.... PERFECT, couldnt hear one missed note. Awesome
LBL - Don't really like this song, but was very impressed at how good it was performed. The chorus was great, got the whole crowd into it.
Cigs and Alcohol - "This one's for all the people who dont smoke or drink!" As soon as Liam said it, we all knew what it was. Another screamer, nobody dared take a seat, and everyone howled right along with the boys. Another huge crowd pleaser.
RnR Star - The usual end to the regular set did not disappoint. Liam dedicated the song to Oasis and with a flourish took the band off the stage in style. I'm running out of times i can say "his voice was perfect" but it was. The sneer was there for every single song, and none of his Glasto-moan showed at all during the whole concert.
ENCORE
Songbird - The band came out, decked out in acoustics... "This one's dedicated to muh misses" Liam pointed to the left of the stage, where apparently she mustve been sitting and the band struck up the song. This one's in such a low key that Liam never screws it up, and it sounded fantastic as always.
Wonderwall - Aaah wonderwall, another one you can always count on to deliver. Sort of a hardrock version, sounded great like always
DLBIA - Noel's best of the night. Up there with MG for most crowd participation, everyone was into it and Noel gave the crowd a whole bunch of choruses to sing. Definetely one of the biggest rushes of the show for me.
My Generation - "Thank you MSG, it's been a pleasure, it really has... goodnight!!" and the band struck up the song. Very good, like always. Liam hit the note he usually squeaks at and Andy's bass solo sounded great. Starkey's a madman on that song too, he could use a little more stage presence though.
