I really can't believe the shit that happened tonight at the show. I'm sitting in section 102, front row seats with 3 of my mates having a blast during Jet. Then jet's set is over and my friend lights up a cigarette, some fuckin tough-shit black (sorry, dont mean to be racist) security guard takes my friends out. I figure he would just take their cigs, the fuckin dude kicks them out of the show. I'm trying to locate them for like 20 minutes and then spent another half an hour begging, pleading and bribing the security to let my friends back in. My mates said fuck it, went home and told me to stay and watch the show.
needless to say, i got to watch the show (got theire 5 songs late though, came during morning glory) but i couldn't even find myself to enjoy it. My mates who i was having a great time with and had paid their hard earned to go to the show were fuckin on a train back home, while i was sitting there by myself.
the boys sounded fuckin fantastic though, liam in top form, new stuff sounding great, fuckin MEGA crowd. I just was put in a real downer mood after the incident and didn't even enjoy it that much to be honest.
and worst of all......ALL BECAUSE OF A STUPID FUCKING CIGARETTE. ONE FUCKING FAG.
it wasn't like they were smoking a joint or under-age drinking, it was a fucking cigarette that ruined a night that i had been fuckin dying to see for a solid 6 months.
thanks alot fuckin twat security at the garden, i shall try my best to avoid going there in the future.

i'm sorry to hear that. i guess new york is very strict on smoking but this is just rediculous. if someone would have complained fair enough even though its a rocknroll concert but even then it would have been harsh to through someone out. why the fuck does this country want to make everything so boring, predicable and fuckin mediocre, i dont get it.

You can't smoke ANYWHERE in NYC. The first thing Mayor Bloomberg (an ex-smoker) did after replacing Mayor Giuliani (God bless) was to basically ban smoking everywhere but in your car and in your house. You can't even smoke on the sidewalk. According to the NY Post, he ordered the NYPD to give citations Kieth Richards and Ronnie Wood for smoking onstage during a Stones concert at the MSG last year. After the NYPD refused, he got up and left the concert and sent some letter to the Stones' management telling them next time they smoked onstage in NYC he would have the NYPD arrest them or some crazy shit like that. I'm sure someone else on this board remembers this story.

But more for their annoying behavior I wish they would have gotten booted. ;D

I mean in all fairness, the guy SIMPLY did his job, smoking is illegal inside in New York... why the hell would you light up a cigarettes when you know it's illegal and against MSG policy to do it? I mean, it's like speeding and complaining you got a ticket... I agree that the guy probably should have asked them to put it out, give them a warning that seems to make sense to me... but he didnt HAVE TO...
it's one cigarettes but what it 20,000 ppl wanted one cigarette? there's lots of factors involved, they did it I dont feel sorry for 'em their own fault, it is bitch that they left you though

But if you get caught for speeding they don't take your car away. or more analogously if you bring a cellphone into an exam they confiscate your cellphone, they don't kick you out of the exam it's fucking ridiculous. that is really shitty. I'd want to punch the security guard out. Sure he was "just doing his job" so were the nazis. I work at a library where you're not allowed food, I either tell them to eat it outside, or if they refuse take the food from them. I don't kick them out of the library again, it's fucking ridiculous. sorry to hear that, that really sucks dude

Well we had a bit to drink before the show and i spoke to my friend this morning, he said that he honestly forgot about the rule (we're from new jersey). He says that he basically begged the guy not to kick them out, he threw away his pack of cigs and everything, but the guy was having none of it.
another thing that annoys me is that when we were coming in, my friend emptied his pockets at the entrance, and a pack of cigs were there. Wouldn't it make sense for someone to just mutter "make sure you don't smoke these" or something? i mean true there is a rule, and i'm not even mad at the rule, i just wish there would have been more understanding of ppl who are not from the city and wern't even causing a problem at all (no-one complained) and my friend was sitting in the front row of the section with no-one behind us yet, so it's pretty impossible for someone to have been affected anyway.
Anyway, the shittest thing is, my mate pointed out to me, is that my night was ruined too and i didn't even do anything wrong.

I agree completely. In fact, I don't even know if it's legal. I mean, I don't know, but "no cigarettes" does that mean "if you smoke cigarettes we're going to kick you out". Maybe? Maybe not. Worth looking into, you might be able to get your money back at least. Even if you can't you're still right "morally" or whatever, I couldn't think of the right word.

Smoking in a closed space like that is never a good idea, because whether people like it or not they'll be smoking too because of you. Smoking when you're in front row can affect negatively the performance of the bands, and by that I mean the singer. Yeah Liam smokes, but anyone here who sings at clubs knows what I'm talking about. The security guard WAS doing his job and it's a good thing he wouldn't take bribe, specially these days we're living in. Comparing law/rules enforcement with nazism is completely ridiculous. With that said, I honestly feel sorry for you and your friend who had the show ruined, what should have been a great night. But it was one person's mistake, and I think you know who.

With that said, I honestly feel sorry for you and your friend who had the show ruined, what should have been a great night. But it was one person's mistake, and I think you know who. Please read what I said. Firstly, I never said it was a good thing that your friend smoked there. Secondly, I wasn't comparing enforcing rules with nazism. I was comparing the excuse of I was just following orders with the excuse "i was just following orders". I was not comparing the offences, nor were I comparing what they were. The extent of my analogy was simply to point out that to claim that one is simply doing what one is told does not exonerate you. Now you might think it's justified to completley kick someone out for smoking. I do not. Take away their cigarettes and issue a warning. Kick them out of the show? Does it say they can do that on the ticket? Were the rules clear? I think it might be illegal.

I think you misread what I said. ;D
Just because Nazis followed orders you expecte a security guard to do different? I have to admit I still don't get that comparison. Should he NOT follow orders? Should he break them and do what he thinks is right? Well, that will get you an unemployed security guard.
I'm not saying I think a person should be kicked out of a show because of smoking. But I do agree that smoking shouldn't be allowed there, and if MSG has such a strict policy than it's a shame for our forum member and his friend, but it's their policy innit? Didn't NYC fight crime with a zero tolerance policy? Perhaps it's the way the do things there.

Sorry man but I dont blame MSG for kicking out ur mates...Think about it, is it really worth havin a smoke indoors when you KNOW its illegal?! If MSG said u must wear a pink bra over ur head inorder to attend an Oasis gig at their venue then pink bra it is! I just dont understand why ur mates couldn't hold off their smoking until AFTER the gig...Its OASIS man!

Thank god I wasn't stuck behind em! Couples tend to be annoying at Oasis gigs...Its like MUST u make out during fookin Wonderwall?! Get a damn room!

That is the stupidest story I ever heard, how the heck could you spend so much money on tickets and take a risk like that. Not for nothing but the air appeared and smelled pretty clear last night in the garden. I was shocked that there was no cloud of smoke anywhere. I give props to everyone who didn't smoke. It is not like the old days at shows, just have to accept the rules, drink all the booze you want, just don't smoke that simple, especially in front of a guard, what was he thinking ?? Anyway tell your friends that it was one of Oasis's defining moments once again in NYC, they were awesome, better than the Radio City shows. Nothing better than seeing the Worlds Greatest band in the Worlds famous arena in a smoke free environment.

Nothing better than seeing the Worlds Greatest band in the Worlds famous arena in a smoke free environment. Agreed. I saw them at Radio City 2x but the 2nd one for the Brotherly Love Tour was the worst oasis experience ive had. Stupid Black Crowes fans were booing oasis, twats yelling at my sis and I to sit our arses down coz they couldn't see the stage! Who the fook sits down when oasis is on?! But the worst insult of all, was the fact that our boys came out FIRST! I didn't understand that at all...Oasis deserved top billing.
