Was just wondering everyones opinion on jet. Having now been to both Detroit and Chicago shows I cannot believe how far up their own arses they are. Who do they think they are? Someone needs to tell them they are just a support act and that they should remember that they obviously can't manage to headline their own show. Maybe Liam needs to have a word and put them in their place. I'd love to know his thoughts about them! They should just remember who we are all there to see. I hope they enjoy these sell out shows because they'll never see anything like them again.
P.S. totally amazing show from the boys!!!

I saw Jet on friday night at the Toronto show. They're nothing special, they played well, but their songs, though sound good on a cd, don't come off too well live. To me, it sounded like they were playing one continious song. They did seem a bit cocky, well the lead singer did, he kept on swearing at the crowd because they were getting little to no crowd reaction.

For some odd reason, I don't think Oasis fans take too well to Jet and their songs. Oasis fans are (obviously) true fans of rock 'n roll, whereas Jet's popularity in North America has been largely based on these pop-rock radio stations and, to me, get lumped in with shitty sounding faux-rock bands like Nickelback and Sum 41. See the difference?
In Jet's defence, I have seen them play a packed club gig in Montreal a couple years back with The Vines and they were much better received, almost blew the roof off a couple times when the crowd really got into it. Having said that, they know the audience now aren't gonna pogo to their set. Its another catch-22: they can try to get the crowd into it (e.g. Toronto) and be met almost expectedly with indifference from 16000 fans wanting Oasis, or they can hang their heads down and plow through the set, making them look like pretentious bastards. It's a no-win situation playing for them to play to a hardcore-Oasis crowd.

It's tough being an opening act. People never pay attention to the opening bands, they didn't pay to see the opening acts, so why should they pay attention or give a damn about them? I agree with you tailgunner, Jet should just plow through their set and play well. I think by doing this they may pick up a few extra fans.

I'm an Aussie and I cant get into Jet. I saw them at the Big Day Out Festival on the gold coast a couple of years back. One good popular song (which was overplayed and is now worn out) and the rest are average to boring in my opinion.
There are so many other Australian Bands which deserve to be bigger overseas than those guys but didnt get a"commerical ride".

I like the CD. Better than most of the crap out there. I would hate to hear U2 fans say what you are saying about the 'opening' act.
Oasis did open for U2 for a couple of shows in California back in like 97-98.

Saw them on Friday like StepOut, they were pretty boring actually. I still can't believe the guys on the way down who were talking about how Jet were going to steal the show.
I give them credit for getting to what they've done... but honestly? If you're going to be anything musically, you can't have the same 4 chords in all of your songs.
It's boring.

Last time Oasis were in Australia playing the Livid Festival Powderfinger actually closed the main stage after them, which says something about their popularity down here. I've always wondered what Oasis and Powderfinger think of each other music, assuming Noel or Liam have ever listened to them There's another thread I've started about this under Rock'n'Star on the forum if anyone wants to check it out.

Yeah mate, I'd agree with that. It was either them or JBT, in hindsight I probably should've put Motor Ace. Sometimes JBT are too political for my liking. Also, anyone going to see The Living End at the QUT guild bar in brissie next month? Tix are only $25 or $20 for students, got mine the other day. people not from australia - Check out Motor Ace. Yeah i agree man, Motor Ace are huge Verve and oasis fans, i met them when i was doing work expierience for festival mushroom records and they were top blokes accept the drummer he was a fagget but the singer was a top GEEZER, his cats name is ashcroft and he follows LiverpooL FC religiously, so i think they get their influence from elsewhere unlike jet who look like a you am i the 2nd, but still atleast jet are better than grinspoon and most of the other shit aussie acts out there, atleast they look like rockstars....powderfinger look like a bunch of bushman, they are the most boring band in history, BRING BACK INXS and AC/DC some aussie bands with style, atleast jet look like they're fuckin into music

I'm a big fan of jets. I've seen them live once, when they did their first tour and it was a mindblowing experience!! Also I've run into Mark Wilson (bass) and Nic Cester (Lead singer) a few times at gigs in melbourne, top blokes, happy to chat to fans whatever. Other good aussie bands to check out are neon, the pictures, dallas crane, red jezebel, 78 saab and youth group. Got the pictures debut album yesterday and it is tip top! They are my favourite live band by far, but that will change when I see oasis I'm sure. But anyway I'm looking forward to what jet manage for their second album and to see them again live!

I know when I'm driving in my car and a shit song comes on I think twice about changing stations if the band members look like rock stars. I like Powderfinger because they dont try and act like something they're not. They're just a bunch of Australian guys who happen to be mates and in a band. There's nothing worse than someone who gets famous then starts acting like a twat. As much as I love AC/DC they're a bunch of dudes with mullets Yeah i agree man, Motor Ace are huge Verve and oasis fans, i met them when i was doing work expierience for festival mushroom records and they were top blokes accept the drummer he was a fagget but the singer was a top GEEZER, his cats name is ashcroft and he follows LiverpooL FC religiously, so i think they get their influence from elsewhere unlike jet who look like a you am i the 2nd, but still atleast jet are better than grinspoon and most of the other shit aussie acts out there, atleast they look like rockstars....powderfinger look like a bunch of bushman, they are the most boring band in history, BRING BACK INXS and AC/DC some aussie bands with style, atleast jet look like they're fuckin into music

Jet played Jimmy Kimmel live last night in NYC.
I can't understand Oasis not organizing themselves to be on National TV.
Their last fe appearances have been Little by Little in 2002 when Liam no showed b/c rumour has it that they we're gonna play SCYHO. Then on Letterman they playe ICSAL in 2000 w/ Liam....but what a strange song choice.
Also back in 2000 they played WDIAGW on Leno.
Noel always wondrs why America doesn't 'get it' but then they don't try at all here.
Doesn't matter to me.
I only caught the last 20 seconds of Jet, but it was 'Cold Hard Bitch' and they we're playing around 1am live in NYC.

67 spesh are nothing really special but they're not bad either. my favourite local bands going round nowdays are Wolfmother, British India and the Panics who reside in melbourne now ! when jet first came out i thought it was brilliant but after i saw them at BDO last year i thought they were shithouse live, like someone said it sounded like one continuous song. They're shit songs get more attention than the actual good ones like Take it or leave it, Lazy gun, Timothy and Sgt Major. I just hope that they can lose the cheeseyness on the next album. Youth Group are fantastic, that new motorace song Animal is boring as dried dog shit, but the first album was pretty damn good.

Jet made my head hurt, and nothing else. They did their shitty little Who-wannabe act and then Oasis came out and completely owned the stage. Best concert ever imo.
