Today's Featured Front page article in USA TODAY:

Yeah, U2 tickets were sold out instantly when they went on sale in the states. It blows...

I actually picked up USA Today this morning just for this article. There's one guy they talked to who makes around $100,000 a year scalping tickets. It's no wonder it's become to enticing to do whatever it takes to get good seats and resell them.
But the overall gist of the article was that the real fans are the ones getting squeezed out of the shows

i dont find a problem getting tickets here in the uk - got tickets to all oasis gigs and U2 gigs and resold a lot of them making myself a very nice amout of money - you just gotta be in there the very second they go on sale, and when they sell out get them re sold straight away when everyone is looking for them

You buying eight with a mind to re-sell six is making it harder for someone else to get them.. Thus if everyone does the same it makes it nearly impossible to get hold of a decent ticket. You were trying to make a point but really just confirmed the headline.
